Six more weeks (or so) and there will be another Emily the Strange fan in the world.

Ana Lucia Cat:

Yeah, I know: I'm totally fishing for posts. But doesn't she have her mom's nose?

6. Yep! I can't wait.
There are so many things that I can't wait to teach her. Reading, cooking, musical instruments, all that.

17. Well...good luck with that...
Babies fall into two categories...up every two hours crying for a bottle or sleeping good.

I have two girls and they were polar-opposites as babies. I think because we let the youngest sleep with us when she was born up to about 7 months. Just speculation of course because each child is so different.

19. I've never really been able to sleep more than 3 hours at a stretch anyway

I don't think I'll be too thrown off by that.

Edit: Of course, I'm not the one who is a mobile lunch...

16. How exciting! You won't believe how cool parenthood is.
It's just beyond words. Yes it is hard and tiring and all that. But all that pales in comparison to the laughter and joy and wonder that kids bring.

Just, be prepared for an avalanche of STUFF to descend on your house for years to come.

21. Actually, I can't wait for the stuff.
My parents actually kept all the cool stuff that I had as a kid: Erector sets (motors and all that), stuffed animals, costumes...

Is one month too young for Halloween?

24. Heck no. Dress her up as a pea in a pod or one of those other
adorable baby costumes. What fun! You get to relive all that good stuff.

But the "stuff" stuff gets to be a bit much after the baby gets, oh, a couple dozen presents for birthdays/holidays from well-meaning family and friends and of course you guys, because, hey, it's fun to buy stuff for kids.

Sippy cups, little scattered shoes, macaroni and glitter artwork -- it's an avalanche. But well worth it.

I have a feeling she'll do what I did politically: rebel and join the socialist party right off. I still voted for Clinton back then, though.
