Emily 125MPH Cat 3, 957 mb. Watch out, Texas!
Computer models show a possible strike on the coast of Texas.

Don't feel left out, Floridians. There are two tropical depressions developing in Emily's wake. :scared:

I checked the local ABC Houston station's website...they show that it could come here on Tuesday or Wednesday.

4. I had planned on renting a cabin next week on Pleasure Island...
at Port Arthur. I've already called my aunt to tell them that we may delay our visit until fall.

10. Really? I always knew he was a good person...
The fact that he has relatives in the Port Neches area just proves it!

Tell Fenris to PM me sometime. I bet we know some of the same people!

28. I definitely will tell him
He just got back from there, in fact. His granddad passed away last weekend so Fen was down there with his family for the services.

He talked about going through a lot of old photos, etc., including pics of his great-grandparents back in the '20s in the area.

30. OMG! Then I am CERTAIN he knows some of my family.
My family goes back that far in that area, too. Ask him if he knows any Allreds or Pruetts over there.

I had to attend my grandmother's funeral this past spring there. She died in the hospital in Nederland.

7. I'm sorta concerned....
... for the western Gulf coast in general, particularly Texas and Louisiana. Every new storm track that comes out places Emily higher and higher into the southern Gulf, and it's highly possible that a trough could suck it up and let it slam right into the Texas/Louisiana border.

11. Yes, that's my main concern, too.
Got many relatives in that area. Maybe some of them will come ride out the storm with us.

I'm prayin' that she stays far west enough in the gulf that New Orleans isn't affected. I'm due north of NOLA.

Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 11:41 PM by merh
I have a friend that is watching Emily and he says the high that is keeping her moving in a westerly direction will move to the east by the time she gets in the Gulf and then she will head our way. :scared:

I told him he should go "f" off. I don't need any predictions like that. :scared:

I don't like this season, too damned busy! :argh:

12. Keep that plywood up!
Maybe the Hurricane Girls can come visit you when Hurricane Season is over and help you take the plywood down. Between many, many daquiris, of course.

:D

14. Hell, we have to keep the storms away to protect
the Hard Rock's Guitar!! It's huge! I still have to take a photo for you.

End of season is the meet up at the Hard Rock, that guitar and the casino must stand! We won't worry about the plywood, I'll paint pumkins on it and use it for my Halloween decorations and then I'll add turkeys and use it for my Thanksgiving decorations. :silly:

15. LOL! Too funny!
I can just see it now. Put some of those fake spiderwebs on it, maybe paint one or two like tombstones, and voila! Instant Halloween decorations.

Yes, That guitar has to stand! I'm planning on driving through that area next week, IF the shuttle is to be launched. Will look for the guitar. I'm thinking about taking MMjr. to the Stennisphere shuttle viewing next week, if the shuttle is launched next week.

I wonder why the Hard Rock put such an enormous hurricane target out there? That's just asking for something to tear it down, isn't it.

16. Ummmm,
Where would they store it until they were ready to put it up?

I don't think the jolly green giant has room in his garage.

If you are going to Stennis, then you won't make it to Biloxi - Stennis is closer to you. Heck, do the shuttle launch thing and then go shopping in downtown Bay St. Louis. I love it there.

You know the history of the railroad bridge, don't you?

Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 12:32 AM by merh
"This Property is Condemned"? It was made in Bay St. Louis and that railroad bridge over the Bay is a big part of the scenery.

Look at what I found on the internet! Don't you just love the internet?

22. Wow! They've done a lot of work on it since I was down there in....
March. When we were there this spring, it was nothing but scaffolding--iron beams, nothing closed in. It's come along nicely.

That guitar IS huge...look at the cars below it. Gives you perspective.

Unfuckingbelievable! Well, at least the guitar is on the backside of the casino, gulfwise. Eh?

If I take it down, then we are out of luck!

As least that is what I am going to believe until it comes, then I'll know I am wrong. :scared: It is a very busy season, damned global warming that is a figment of our imagination! :nuke:

I had an electric motor on it. We cruised up and down these other streets. Water was going through and between houses at the low wnd of my street.

Computer models continue to shift Emily's track toward the Texas Coastline. Even Louisiana coast residents should be keeping an eye on Emily:
