What is your favorite method of working out?
Mine is walking. No strain, and if you go long enough, you can still burn those calories.

9. NoSheep -
Hey back!

It's that machine that has feet gliders which go in a sort of elliptical motion. Sometimes they have ski pole-like handles that go back and forth. It's a great workout. I can go 3-4 miles and don't feel like my shins are engulphed in flames.

5. I've been doing water aerobics since 1996
It looks wimpy, but whenever we get a new instructor, we have to tell her that her workout is too easy and that we want more cardio.

Recently, I bought a folding bike (because I live on the fourth floor of an apartment building) and have been taking spins around my neighborhood lake. I love to ride, but that four-story walk has been a real obstacle. Now I have no such excuse. The bike lives in the trunk of my car, unfolds in less than a minute, and is easier to handle than a regular bike.

6. It would be bicycling if it weren't for prohibitive weather 1/2 the year.
So, instead, it's using one of those industrial-weight "gazelle"s that they have at Gold's Gym. They're very programmable, have ingenius handle bars, that'll allow you work your arms in a variety of ways, and, of course, you can work your legs anyway you can think of on one of these double-weight-framed gazelles too.

14. I'm about to start again...
My unemployment/depression/etc. combined with being back home in a house full of sugary foods that I normally wouldn't eat has contributed to an unhealthy weight of about 330 pounds. My goal weight (at the point where I'll have defined abs) is 250 pounds. My problem is that I'm someone who needs to strictly define his diet in order to eat healthy, so I'm going to do what I did before: exercise and eat 2 meals a day plus a chocolate slimfast/protein/banana drink to eliminate my sweet tooth, supplemented by my favorite diet soft drinks (for some reason, Winn-Dixie's diet Shasta knockoff is a big hit with me). No refined sugars, period.

For exercise, I'm going to start slow. Pushups and sit-ups to failure and about 30 minutes of a game called Dance Dance Revolution. I'll gradually increase the time spent with the game to an hour, then increase the speed. Once I get down to 280 or so, I'll incorporate exercising on the Total Gym. I used to do reps to failure on the highest degree of resistance on the Total Gym. When I get to 250, I'll alternate jogging and DDR and supplement the Total Gym with some weight lifting to focus on the lower body.

I'm actually starting Monday and hope to reach 270 by Christmas.

26. Dancing and Mountain Biking
Good: Riding my mountain bike on the trails around here. The scenery
tends to have a rejuvinating effect when I get tired.

Better: Find an underground rave in the city and dance until the sun comes up.

Best: All-weekend psytrance campout up in the mountains.
Ride the music under the stars until the sun comes up,
grab a little breakfast, and dance some more, continue
until they run out of gas for the generator.
