Your flag decal won't get you into Heaven anymore.
Or - The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Enjoy.

While digesting Reader’s Digest
In the back of a dirty book store
A plastic flag with gum on the back
Fell out on the floor.
Well,I picked it up and ran outside
And slapped it on my windowshield.
And If I could see ol’ Betsy Ross
I’d tell her how good I feel.

(Chorus)
But, you flag decal won’t get you
Into Heaven anymore.
They’re already overcrowded
From your dirty little war
Now Jesus don’t like Killin’
No matter what the reasons for.
And your flag decal won’t get you into Heaven anymore.

Well,I went to the Bank this morning
And the cashier said to me
If you join the Christmas Club
We'll give you ten of them flags for free.
I didn’t mess a round a bit
I took him up on what he said
And stuck them stickers all over my car
And one on my wife’s forehead.

(Chorus)
But, you flag decal won’t get you
Into Heaven anymore.
They’re already overcrowded
From your dirty little war
Now Jesus don’t like Killin’
No matter what the reasons for.
And your flag decal won’t get you into Heaven anymore.

Well,I got my windshield so filled with flags I couldn’t see
So I ran my car upside a curb and right into a tree
By the time they got a doctor down
I was already dead,
And I’ll never understand
Why the man,
Standing in the Pearly Gates said…

(Chorus)
But your flag decal won’t get you into Heaven anymore,
We’re already overcrowded from your dirty little war
Now Jesus don’t like killin’
No matter what the reasons for.
And your flag decal won’t get you into Heaven anymore.

3. You like My Morning Jacket?
Great band; I just put "At Dawn" on the show tonight; have you heard their version of "Rocket Man"?

4. Dude -
I like everything but christian rock, death metal and all around *cheese*.

I'm a n00b to the My Morning Jacket scene though - so I haven't heard it. I'm getting "It Still Moves" - and that will be my first cd of theirs. I go on music digging missions from time to time and end up with a bunch of shit I've never heard of - and I love doing that. I don't get much exposure - but I dig up a lot of cool shit all by myself! :) I think that a couple of days after I ordered it I listened to a brief clip of a song online. Don't remember anything about it - other than it validated my making the purchase, even if after the fact. I buy a LOT of stuff I've never heard of or heard before.

So yeah, I'd say I like them! If I can make that qualification without having heard the album yet. I typically can, though!

5. You'll love them..
Anytime you need advice on new stuff to listen to let me know; right now my flat-out favorite band in the workld is Richmond Fontaine:

Willy Vlautin is the best songwriter not named Richard Buckner, and their new record "The Fitzgerald" is fantastic!

6. I'll add that to my already too long and ever growing list!
I love the internets! I used to go to record stores and pick something I'd never heard of but that looked cool - almost NO misses doing that, either! But now - I get lost digging in Amazon, for example, - reading reviews, following links to other similar artists, reading about other artists reviews for something else - etc. As a result I tend to go in genre-centric music buying binges.

The last binge was RAP - over the course of some months.

I just bought Jack Johnson, the new John Hiatt, the new Aimee Mann, and some *random* cd from a band called Hawthorne Heights at the store the other day - which catupulted me back into "must buy cds" mode.

It's truly amazing the amount of fabulous music that's out there!
