Right now, it's anywhere on the Texas coast. Living in the Houston area, my eyes are peeled!

5. True
I've seen some models showing it should hit Brownsville. That would pretty much clear Louisiana. Nobody really knows at this point where it will hit.

6. Not if it crosses the Yucatan peninsula
That'll cut it down real fast.

Now if it takes a more northerly track, there will be some real trouble.

Five named storms, four major hurricanes, and we're only five weeks into the season.

7. Most models are showing it going through the Yucatan Channel instead...
of across the peninsula. If those models are right, we are looking at a Cat 5 in a couple of days.

11. Doesn't Texas need some rain?
If Emily hits the Yucatan Penisula, those mountains will take a toll on her, but once she crosses back into the Gulf, if the winds slow here down she could regain strength.

Aren't one of those warm eddies of water in the Western Gulf? It's those eddies that can refuel hurricanes beaten by Yucatan.

12. Water's cool, it will still lost strength before going ashore in TX
Same way that Dennis lost strength. Now, LATER this season when there's more heat content in the water (which feeds hurricanes), watch out! This is the first time on record to have TWO significant hurricanes develop in July. Gonna' be quite a season!
