I was planning on going to an afternoon movie with my family, but
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 06:13 PM by rateyes
am now going to the 9:30pm showing. Why? Because we live 30 miles from town, and my family wants to be in town at midnight to go to Barnes & Noble and pick up 2, count them 2, copies of the next Harry Potter book, which is the time they are going to be released. They are staying open all night long to handle the long line of customers. I'm working late--(actually, not working, wasting time talking to you)--until time to meet them at the theatre.

Is this sick, or what?

1. Rampant fandom does strange things to people
I've never understood standing in line all night for something that you are easily going to be able to aquire the next day.

They're not going to run out, people!

3. I know...
but, my daughters will probably be up all night reading the first few chapters. Obsession is one step away from insanity, don't you think?

4. Well, we will have two cars...
so, if it looks like too long to wait---I'm ditching them, and will tell them "hello" in the morning.

my middle daughter are going to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and my wife, myself, and my youngest daughter are going to go see "Bewitched." I'll probably fall asleep halfway through it. But, I'll enjoy their company while I can--not often we get to do this.

Edit: Oh, and thanks for the well wishes.

7. Think back to your childhood.
Can you think of anything that was just coming out that you couldn't wait to get. A record, an album, a toy---anything?

8. I know, I know..I'm not mad at them...
and, am glad to spend time with them, even if it's just talking while waiting in line...and, I want them to get finished reading the book as quickly as possible, so that I can read it too!!

But, as far as remembering my childhood is concerned...I'm too damned old to remember my childhood!!

9. No -- no
We can remember our childhood. It's the things that happened yesterday or last week we forget.

10. Yeah, I know...just making a joke... which brings me to an anecdote...
My wife called her parents last Easter and asked what they were doing. They told her that they were coloring Easter eggs. She asked them why they were doing that--they didn't have any children at home any more.

They told her--"Oh, it's great fun. We're at the age where we can dye the eggs, hide the eggs, and still be surprised where we find the eggs!"

Sometimes I think a good "forgetory" is about as important as a good memory. Forget all the BS, Forget all the mean crap people do to you, etc., etc., etc.

Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
