Do You Have . . . HARRY POTTER FEVER?

It's gripping the globe as we speak.

1. I'm actually a fan of Harry Potter, and have read all the books, but this
Hype is really over the top, not that it's anything new. Last night, despite all that's happening in the world, this was a top story on every news show. I guess people need a break from the tragic stuff, but enough, already!:eyes:

7. Oh, I think it's great that kids are reading more, don't get me wrong.
But the hype in the news is pretty much over the top, considering what else is going on in the world. Also, maybe I'm not as tough as the kids are, today, but these books can get damn scary! Some of what goes on is scary to me and totally boggles the mind. I wouldn't read these books to very young children; I'd think they'd be scared witless and have nightmares for a week, but I know that they are familiar with the books and going to see the movies. Go figure.

9. IMO, kids so young...
that they'd have to be read to wouldn't understand the British English or half of what's going on.

Video games and movies have toughened up the older ones.

IMHO.

11. Maybe not, but they'd understand the movie.
I saw the first movie ("Sorcerer's Stone") when it first came out, and the finale in which the Dark Arts professor had Voldemort's hideous face on the back of his head, under the turban, totally creeped me out. I had trouble watching that part, still do. My dentist was asking about it, since she planned to take her kids on Thanksgiving. The older ones may not have been bothered, but I warned her against taking her pre-schoolers, as did my friend. She didn't seem to be that concerned, even when I tried to describe to her what they'd see. If I had seen just that scene, as a pre-schooler, I think I'd still be having nightmares!
:scared:

10. Not this time.
I've actually only been a Potter fan for two years. My ex introduced me to them and now that he's gone...well, one of the last things we did together as a couple that was positive was talk about OotP. I've had a strange week--REALLY strange. My therapist, Tarot reader (yes, I took her back) and friends have all been feeling the social weirdness out there, too--have y'all noticed? But anyway, my strangeness has involved a lot of baaaad memories of the X cropping up. And I don't want to be reminded of his nastiness anymore, so I'm taking some time off of The Potter (trying to reist the fever). It was reeeaaalllly hard to resist today, I almost gave in. Yet, as of this moment, I'm still Potterless and Potter-free. It's excellent.

12. That sucks.
You can't enjoy something you like because it reminds you of the evil X.

Damn him to blazes! x(

Haha. Oh well, when kids are running wild in the streets casting spells on honest God-fearing folks, I won't be to blame.

Kind of reminds me of the old days when people were trampling each other to get Cabbage Patch Kids. Group hysteria, thy name is Potter.

18. no desire at all
I enjoy J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis but I'll pass on Potter. I don't really have the time to devote to a 672 page children's book.

The rabid fandom seems a bit much for a book release. But who an I to criticize. I was at the Revenge of the Sith midnight premiere in costume.
