we got our first monsoon in the desert this evening |
|
in the middle of the dinner rush
whilst i was cooking over a 350 degree grill
one thing to note: swamp coolers do not work when there is moisture in the air
it was a very busy evening indeed... party of 8, party of 5, party of 6
oh yeah, there is a leak in the swamp cooler duct over my head
i just discovered that
in the middle of the rush
water was leaking on my head while i was cooking
gives new meaning to chinese water torture
i had a very long day
the end :P

work by evaporation. If humidity is high, no evaporation, put on vent. Use a fan, my grandmother had some nice Japanese fans to wave on herself. BTW, it was the heat in El Paso that took outside to the porch to see a funny light, which proved to be the explosion of the first atomic bomb. Heat will do strange things.

... the weather report has been for afternoon and evening thunderstorms for most days in the last three or four weeks. Dark clouds come over and sit for a while, and then move on. Might have been a little rain on the north side of town, but none here. Every time I read "thunderstorms, chance of rain 30%," I know we're not going to get a thing. We're already about three or four inches below normal.
Cheers.

8. Had a nice monsoon shower |
|
down south of Tucson tonight, too. Still seeing some lightning to the north and east of here. It did help with the fire on the mountain across the way.

13. Some year, NSMA, I will meet ya in Tucson to take in the storm season! |
|
We can do supper at the Desert Museum some Saturday night. Go to Sabino some evening for lightening watching. Zip down to Tubac for a bit of color. Do Kitt Peak on a clear night. Tip over hogs parked outside the Amado Saloon for giggles. Harass the hell outta my kid and my sister
We can park our hounds at my sister's to cool their doggie heels under the fans on the veranda and play with her mutts. She loves doggie company. After hearing about the accommodations there for dogs, the lady at the humane society asked my sister to adopt her too while she was getting Ms Molly Dog.

that's why there is music! Picture, if you will, Two Goldens, a Golden/Ridgeback cross, a Karilian Bear dog and a Pomerainian all dancing to some Mariachie tunes... That would be our collective hounds at sis's casa.
Hot tub/pool dips optional, cept for Ms Molly & the Pom who swim like fishes... Oh, there's Koi too, speaking of fishes... Great place for doggie diversions! An my bro-in-law loves to fire up the grill. He is always a diversion for K-9 types ;)
