No matter the cost, it will be worth it. It's just too hot to go without the air conditioning, at least in my part of the country. (But check your breakers first, just in case).

then open the windows, get all the fans going, and grab a towel and a bucket of ice cold water and pray he hurries. :)
Our power went out last July for nearly 10 hours, we ended up getting a hotel room that day because it was impossible for any of us to stay in the house.

And buy a new thermostat. 2 screws, and three wires, and it's fixed. And a lot cheaper than a repairman.

and here's something else to consider when purchasing a new thermostat: Don't buy a programmable 'stat. That type has a history of failing over short-term as compared to the simple type you just set yourself, and adjust as needed.
