Poll question: RealOne Player or Windows Media Player? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 01:12 PM by tjdee
Is one better than the other, as far as free media players go? And why? (If you feel like saying)

6. RealPlayer is spyware, and calls home |
|
It has been known to transmit your preferences, playlists, identity data, etc. back to RealMedia, who then sells that info to marketing companies. You can guess the rest.
Microsoft is, well,.... Microsoft. 'Nuff said.
I used to be a diehard MusicMatch Jukebox user, but since Yahoo! bought them they've gone into major suckitude. If you can find it on the web, MMJB version 7.x or 8.x is the bee's knees, the squirrel's pearls, the gopher's gonads, if you will.
Just STAY THE HELL AWAY from RealMedia and their crappy spyware. You will not regret it!

If I had to choose between something I trust and something with a lot of bells and whistles that I don't use much, I'd go with what I can trust.

Not even counting that it is owned by TimeWarner/AOL.
The current version has a very bad security issue; but truth be told: I just don't like it. Also, it just is not as good as the two I have linked above, unless you really do need the pseudo-I-tunes bundles with it.
