Do relationships with age disparity ever work? |
|
When the man is older?
When the woman is older?

As long as you're both on the same wavelength, age doesn't matter. If something goes wrong, it probably wasn't related to age disparity.

the question is for how long?
I personally know of two examples:
1: Younger man, older woman....lasted 2 years.
2: Younger woman, older man (40 years difference)...still going 27 years later.

6. I am sure you didn't even notice the hetero-centricity of your question... |

Just an example of what gays deal with every single day.
No offense taken... :)

8. Yes and yes, but there are definite hurdles. |
|
And they all have to do with what one wants out of life and their relationship. Having children, of course, is the biggest factor. If one wants kids but not right away, and their spouse is 10 years older than they are, chances are good that they're going to have to speed up their timetable a bit to accomodate the difference. Of course, then you also have to think about life later on, when you're both much older.
This is not to say I regard these hurdles as any higher than the hurdles that occur in relationships between people of the same age. Just acknowledging their unique existence.

My husband and I are very close in age, but age isn't what dooms a relationship. It can hinder it (I guess) if your differences are too great, but they can and do work.

10. My husband is 12 years YOUNGER than me. |

We have had a wonderful life together for going on ten years now.
*If the age matters to either one of the couple, it's doubtful it will work, but worth a try anyway.
*Providing of course that both are of the age of consent!
