They're giving me an hour weekly to do a talk radio show. Name ideas? |
|
The community radio station (KZUM) is giving me a 2am-3am Friday time slot to do a talk radio call in show.
Most of the programs on this station are blues folk world music, though recently they've been carrying Democracy Now.
They don't have a voice delay, and I won't have a call screener, so I figure I'll just have to check callers out for a moment before I put them on the air.
I've never done radio before.
My experience consists of a year of sometimes calling into the local talk radio call in shows.
I was just told that my first show will be August 5th. and that I need to come up with a name.
I was thinking something simple like "The Talk Radio Call In Show".
What do you think?

13. I think due mainly to the underwriting they'd like some boosterism |
|
and coverage of local community issues, which I'm going to have to try to tie into the larger issues.
This might be a bit of a drag and I'll have to see how much of it I want to go along with.

11. I called them and said I'd like a show. |
|
Then I went to an orientation meeting with about a dozen people who wanted to host blues folk world music programs.
I had to become a dues paying member, so I gave them the low income persons minimal membership fee.
The next week I trained by sitting in on a blues program.
I observed the host running the board, playing music, doing station IDs, underwriter promos, and public service announcements.
Now they're giving me an hour of late night air time.
Do you have any community radio stations where you live that tell people they can call up if they want a show?

Start the Topic: Where you, the caller, set the tone for the hour
Or
Train of Thought
Or
Change the Topic: Don't like what you're hearing? Call in and change the topic!
or
Oblivion: One hour in the dark hours of the night. If your up and listening, you're in the Oblivion Zone. Call in and share life, rant about what bugs you, or voice your opinion of the news of the day!

7. I see you're from Lincoln, Nebraska. Can you somehow link |
|
Lincoln into the name? Or does that sound too much like the conservatives? I never really thought of Lincoln being republican because he was on the side of the slaves...of course some people might argue with.
Democracy in Lincoln, your radio station for fairness to all.
