help! MASKED MAN at my door |
|
15 years i've been here. my property flows into the woods, and i have a natural fence of blackberries along the driveway separating me from the neighbor. "what's that smell" i ask. "poison" he says. "i can't make you cut them down, so i am killing them" OK - WTF do i do now? "

Honestly: why cut down blackberries?
Damn, I'd kill for a berry bush in my yard, but nothing but grows in my clay.

If he is destroying plants on your property... |
|
and the plants are not on his I would file a report with the police and take him to small claims court for any damage done.

He stated it himself in your quote, "I can't make you cut them down, so I am killing them" Although I don't know the entire story, if he's poisioning plants on your property to get rid of them, he's breaking the law. Call the police. Now.

any legal right to do that? If not, call for police for trespassing and destroying your property.

What a creep. I know blackberries are a little invasive, but if you are in the woods, I think it's fine to have them. I would call the police AND I would call the newspaper so they can expose his deed.

himalayan blackberries are THE MOST INVASIVE plant in the PNW. they take over any neglected land quickly, forming a viscious tangle of thorns that only rats can use as habitat. the berries, in my studied opinion, SUCK compared to native blackberries.
you neighbor is a dick. he should never use pesticides to kill plants, especially without trying to convince you to remove them. there are natural methods like DIGGING THEM UP WITH A BIG MACHINE.
but i would hesitate to call a patch of blackberries, which are likely a constant battle to keep from invading his property, a "natural fence".

13. Well it sounds as if he doesn't want plants on his property |
|
in which case I fail to understand why he moved to a forest.
I don't think she said what kind of blackberries they are.

14. Here there are laws about that kind of thing. |
|
We are allowed to trim tree branches etc that hang into our property from a neighbor. But spray to kill them? That's illegal (and nutty).
If you are sure they are planted on your side of the property just hose them off....after the police arrive.
As a side note. If they do die. Replace them with something else. Blackberries are a PITA.
