I need advice for a nightcap.
Clonazepam stopped working. Simply Sleep (aka Tylenol PM w/o the Tylenol) doesn't knock me out for more than 2 hours anymore.

Warm milk? I'm lactose intolerant. Lactose free milk...warm? Yuck...makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Snuggling with my doggies? They fart on me...really.

Alcohol? reverse effect, keeps me up even later.

Any idea? Seriously, I don't get more than 5 hours of sleep a day anymore, usually divided between a 2 hour "nap" and 3 hours of sleep.

Ughh...

do an hour of laps. I've been having trouble sleeping this week, so I'm moving furniture this evening, good luck!

Trazadone, warm milk, tylenol 3 doesn't work for me all the time, either. Sometimes I just have to force myself to be exhausted and not take any naps, coffee, sugar, etc.

3. My doctor gave me a prescription for valium because of stress...
in the workplace and it works like a charm.

:boring: (I know this smilie means boring, but I'm using it to represent a good night's sleep.)

4. A Warm Turkey Sandwich and a Sleep Mask
The first taken internally...the second worn to block out ALL ambient light sources.

6. Ya know, I got those handy...kinda. Any idea for a homemade sleep mask?
Since it's a bit late, I can't exactly run out and buy a sleep mask now.

Do you mean the jelly-filled thingies, or just the masks that block out light?

If the latter (since the only jelly I have handy is expired Vaseline...yes, it does expire), what sort of material should I use to construct a homemade non-lethal sleep mask out of?

7. Just one that blocks out light...
...a homemade one....Hmmmm.....

Gotta make it from breathable fabric, naturally, but tightly woven so it doesn't let in any light...and any old elastic you can find (say, from old underwear.)

And tomorrow...hit drugstore.com - http://tinyurl.com/8ehwl
and buy a couple. :)

I never travel anymore without one...and I keep one handy by my bed.

10. I just hide my eyes under a pillow; make sure your nostrils are uncovered

and you'll be fine. I've got some kind of hypersensitivity to light, apparently. Or more likely I'm just an unusually light sleeper.

The other classic suggestion is taking a really, really, really hot bath. Mostly I just faint afterwards.

5. Diet and exercise
Just a suggestion, may not apply, but check out your diet for things that keep you awake. Sugar, white flour, caffeine, etc. Fewer contamanents and more vegetables and grain, will help some people.

Also, exercise, if you aren't getting enough.

Bad diets can create extra stress, especially if you are already stressful, and make whatever stress you have worse. When you try to medicate over a bad diet and lack of exercise, the medication works less and less.

When I get too addicted to sodas I can't sleep. When I give them up in favor of herbal teas, and exercise more, I sleep longer and better, and feel better. Why don't I give them up permanentally, you ask? Character weakness, I suppose. I like sodas more than good sleep. :-)

As I say, may not apply. Just something that works for me.

8. Benadryl, if you are looking for a drug solution
And if not, more exercise, but not close to bedtime, if possible. Swimming is a great suggestion, wears you out like crazy.

9. How about a sound machine?
Mine mimics the sound of the ocean. Very soothing.
