A Tale of Two Border Crossings
Saturday morning I headed down to Seattle. I expected a bit of a border wait, but I got more than I bargained for. Two and a half hours (that I will never get back) sitting in a line-up. Good times.

When I finally get to the booth, I handed over my passport and was asked the following questions:

Where are you headed? (Seattle)
What is the purpose of your trip? (I'm going to a funeral)
Whose? (A friend)
What is your friend's name? (Andy)
Andy what? (Andy Stephenson)
What did he die of? (Pancreatic cancer)
How old was he? (34 (a dyslexic moment))
That's pretty young isn't it? (Yes, too young.)
You can go.

On the way home, I drove right up to a booth as there was one free. I was asked the following.

How long were you down? (I left Saturday morning)
Are you bringing any goods back? (No)
Have a good day.

1. Glad you were able to cross into the dark empire for Andy
I could have used some your inexpensive arthritis drugs

But 2.5 hours? I use to live up there and I never had 2.5 hours for a crossing.

4. you were there yvr girl?
I was also there...through a happenstance of circumstances I found myself with a few hours to myself in Seattle Saturday...my trip had been planned a month ago and I just had to attend...

I was very inspired and and extremely touched, and as I type this I'm listening to Mike Malloy and he's started talking about Andy after I started typing this!

I have to go now, I'm glad you got back to Canada safely!
