Great as John Boy, and surprisingly (to me, given his TV role and its limitations) good in Red Badge Of Courage and the remake (very good, though the classic remains the 1933 original) All Quiet On The Western front.

2. Still think the best thing he ever did was...
... as Josh Arnold in "Red Sky at Morning." Wonderful little movie, and he did very, very well in it.

Thomas played against type on that one. "JOHN BOY playing Hank Williams Jr.?"

But he pulled it off, and it was one powerful movie.
