for SugarSmack ~ gypsy
So I'm back, to the velvet
underground
Back to the floor, that I love
To a room with some lace
and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy
that I was
To the gypsy...
that I was

And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
Well, lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
Ah, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

To the gypsy that remains
faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough
Enough for me to love
Enough to love

She is dancing away from me now
She was just a wish
She was just a wish
And a memory is all
that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
And it all comes down to you
I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
And it all comes down to you

I still see your bright eyes,
bright eyes
(She was just a wish)
(She was just a wish)
And it all comes down to you

Lightning strikes,
maybe once, maybe twice
And it all comes down to you

1. Great Tune!
I saw Fleetwood Mac the year that one came out, back in 1982 IIRC. Men at Work opened for them. Mac was incredible, even to these 13-year-old ears!

Thanks for the memories! :hi:

25. This weekend, I would love to see you.
So would little Sophie! We'll give you directions, and we can do all that stuff we talked about, like drinking beer and talking in the kitchen, and tearing down outdoor supply shops and gossiping.

Frankly, I can't wait.

18. you are beyond sweet dear
you are too much! Thanks for everything! :*

I have a book for you, too, about our mutual hero Hunter Thompson. I believe it's out of print, but it's a bio from the early 90s that was written with the cooperation of just about everybody close to HST, except for the man himself. Unfortunatly I can't remember the title, though. :(

I'll PM you the details and you can let me know if you want it. :D

21. You just tweaked my endless jonesing for HST.
Here's what I have of his (taken on a promiscuously rampant photo-taking session one afternoon)

At first I thought you were talking about "The Proud Highway", a rich & gorgeous collection of his correspondances. So the format of the book you're talking about sounds a lot like "Edie-An American Biography". That is so cool, especially if you put them together. I would really like to hear other people's stories about him.

23. WOW, you might have it already
Here's a link to it. I found it particularly interesting because the author talks about HST's method-- i.e., booze to loosen the mind, and stimulants to keep the energy flowing.

Plus there's a couple of anecdotes that made me practically pee myself, too, like his first encounter with Jan Wenner at RS. :D

9. Look, it's my California Girl!
:pals:

Thanks for the sugar. That is such a beautiful song.

This one's from David Garza & me...to you!

black orange white and red
dresses hanging off your bed
from now until you reach your grave
baby i will be your slave
ask for your hand to hold
no i could never be so bold
i could never be so brave
baby i will be your slave

lying words like overflow
they'll rule your heart before you know
they'll cover you from head to toe
they'll never mean a word they say
they just go

i'll bring your mother back to life
i'll gove your father back his sight
back float in a tidal wave
baby i will be your slave

i had a dream of bleeing skies
crippled legs and static eyes
open land and quiet cave
baby i will be your slave

i love you, don't you trust me
do you love me like i love you
i'm broken lost in misery
but you don't have to worry about me
i have no more soul to save
baby i will be your slave

:loveya:

Putting a smile on my face! And I was so draggin' today, darling. It's the lack of sleep thing, you see, except this time it was my own fault. One should never combine "Dead Ringers" with nachos directly before bed. I suspect that was what enhanced my nightmares to 3 dimensions last nite.

Bad, bad idea.

29. Gypsy of a strange and distant time
A gypsy of a strange and distant time
Traveling in panic, all direction blind,
Aching for the warmth of a burning sun,
Freezing in the emptiness of where he'd come from.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,
Left without a hope of coming home.

Speeding through a shadow of a million years
Darkness is the only sound to reach his ears,
Frightening him with visions of eternity,
Screaming for a future that could never be.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,
Left without a hope of coming home.

bwahahaha

The Befuddled-Illuminati-Now, so perplexed, as to why their ‘knowledge’ no longer mystifies their droids trundled off instead across the vast dune wastes filled with Gypsy/Rom and home-less Bedouins baring the papyrus figs of little un-done things, squeaky servos, and silica shards blown on heißer Ödlandwind of le soleil? Safe Cracking, French Jewel Thieves who will not unto these hours in this day stop with their ‘ways & means’; as though tip toeing not on precious stones, but egg shells in the dark; darkness all around? Every: where? Made of ‘the dark lord’ to, “Go! Thee and into this”: A spastic, gloriously random snuffbox powdered with exponentially oppressive fits & fitful sneeze un-blessed? They were all of us believers come: That Day.
