Here is a reason for Irish America to REALLY hate Karl Rove |

Rove comments cause ruckus Bush adviser makes al Qaeda, IRA comparison By Ray O'Hanlon rohanlon@irishecho.com
Top Bush White House adviser Karl Rove has prompted an angry riposte from the John Kerry campaign after he compared America's war against terrorism with British actions in the Northern Ireland conflict.
In an interview given to the Associated Press, Rove said that the future of the battle against al Qaeda would look like the British military's battle against paramilitaries in Northern Ireland.
"This is going to be more like the conflict in Northern Ireland where the Brits fought terrorism, and there's no sort of peace accord with al Qaeda saying, 'we surrender,' " Rove was reported as saying in the interview, details of which became public on Thursday.

of the continuing Iraq conflict to most Americans who generally don't view the IRA conflict with the same level of alarm that they do with conflicts sourced in the middle east and south asia.
It's okay, it's just another batshit crazy IRA vs. the good guys sorta thing, you know?

I have long felt the US Government is using Brit tactics to combat terrorism. After reading the Patriot Act I felt it had been copied almost verbatim from Prevention of Terrorism(Temporary Provisions)Act 1974.
Fuck Karl Rove.

Back in the campaign, Rove showed that he was more ignorant of the Irish situation than an average American, having missed the peace/disarm accord.

9. So we're negotiating with the "non-violent" arm of Al Qaeda? |

McManus also believed that the statement pointed to "some anti-Irish Catholic elements" in the Republican Party.
"While there has always been many fine leaders in the GOP with excellent records on Irish affairs, there has also been, as a matter of historical fact, a strong anti-Irish Catholic element, the no-pope-here crowd," McManus said.
Any connection to the Bush's friends at Bob Jones University? His speech there turned around his primary run in South Carolina. Bob Jones Sr gave Ian Paisley an honorary degree--along with George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Strom Thurmond & John Ashcroft. Paisley has spoken at BJU many times & 2 sons are on the faculty. And Paisley was invited to Bush's 1st St Patrick's Day celebration as president.
The Dominionist/Christian Reconstructionist movements are rooted in a twisted version of Presbyterianism. They're the sort of folks who still use the word "Papist."
And the Good Friday Agreement is part of Clinton's legacy. Therefore, it must not be encouraged.
