More Parents Television Council silliness
I get their e-mails just for a laugh... here's the latest to get their panties in a bunch.

---------------

ABC Airs F-Word During Live 8 Broadcast

TAKE ACTION NOW!

On July 2nd the ABC Television Network aired Live 8: A Worldwide Concert Event -- a prerecorded program containing footage from the many concerts that took place that day all across the world.

Audiences tuning-in to this family hour broadcast got an unexpected surprise at the bottom of the first hour (8pm Eastern, 7pm Central). During The Who's performance of "Who Are You" a line in the chorus "who the f*ck are you" was aired unedited. The program was aired on a tape delay, which should have given ABC ample time to edit all obscenities from the concert prior to broadcast. In fact a number of other profanities were edited from the program, but this F-bomb found its way into millions of living rooms across the country.

<snip blah blah>

----------------

Personally, I think the letter is more offensive than the mumbled "f-bomb" in the song.

2. Brent Bozell III is a sick, sad man.
Never mind that the concert was to promote global poverty awareness- someone said a dirty word! Ooooh! Pull all sponsorship now! :sarcasm:

5. Brent Bozell and the big government conservatives strike again
The thing is that I actually like family programming: shows like American Dreams, the Wonder Years, the Brady Bunch, Family Ties and Family Matters have been among my favorites over the years. Latley I have also been enjoying old reruns of Lassie (the one with June Lockhart, Jon Provost and Hugh Reilly). But I don't think all programming should have to be family oriented programming. That would just not be a realistic depiction of life in America and the world. I also like racier shows like the O.C., That 70's Show and more politically charged shows like All in the Family and Boston Public. Maybe it's time for us all to send the PTC a large package of remote control TV clickers, which they seem unable to use.
