6. Didn't know it was stupid at the time, but
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 12:51 PM by Shell Beau
I was little and got hold of my grandpa's tranquilizers that looked like red hots. Ate the whole bottle full, had to get stomach pumped. Very next year got into some sleeping type cough syrup and drank the whole bottle. Back to the ER to get stomach pumped again. My mom had to hide and lock up any type of medicine from then on out. And it was hard to get to in the first place.

no, just kidding. Seriously, though... I have done so many very, very stupid things I can't pick just one.

The most stupid/evil thing I have ever done and I have never forgiven myself for it and it still haunts me to this day was when I was like eleven or twelve years old I was really into prank calling people and I also had a paper route, there was this very, very sweet, old lady on my paper route who when I would collect the bill every month would refer to her husband as "deceased." I knew what the word meant of course but it sounded weird to me or something, I don't know. So I prank called her one day for no reason and I don't know if I planned to do this when I called or if it just came to me. I disguised my voice as that of an adult male and asked for her husband when she said, predictably that her husband was deceased I screamed... (this is hard for me) "He's dead you BITCH!" I slammed down the phone and was immediately consumed with overwhelming guilt that has lasted to this day. Yes, that is by far the most stupid/evil thing I have ever done.

on edit: I meant to reply to the main thread, not this post in particular, sorry.

From now on, it's maintenance-free living for me: condos or apartments only from here on out.

16. I can't believe I'm going to share this but
when I was 16 I filled my step-moms van with kerosene instead of gas. Why do they put the 2 nozzles on the same pump? I did realize my mistake and called home crying, scared my dad was gonna kick my ass, but my dear sweet late paw-paw saved the day, he fixed it.

What worse, my husband and I just went down to visit and my dad told my husband all about it.

20. I let a kid hang on to the back of
my car on his skateboard. When I looked in the rearview I didn't see him so I figured he'd let go. A second later he was in the street. He was okay, but scraped his knee up. It was the most irresponsible thing I've ever done as an adult. I still feel really bad about it and it scares the shit out of me thinking about it still.

23. Voted for Bush in '00
I know, I know.

:puke:

In my defense, I lived in NY and the state went to Gore, so I comfort myself by claiming that my vote had no effect.

Learned a valuable lesson, though: Be careful of what you wish for.

25. I don't know about THE stupidest. But, one stupid thing I did
was get sucked into posting on someone's silly blog because they called me out and called me a liar. I should have just left it alone, but I just couldn't help myself. I ended up getting angrier and angrier with no resolution to the issue. Next time, I'll know to just ignore someone like that. :(

26. So many to choose from.
Let's see, a friend and aI were in the rainforest at night taking a picture of a poisonous snake (fer-de-lance for you snake people) and we shut our lights off to get a better shot of it. And it started moving. Luckily away from us, but that definitely wasn't the smartest thing ever done.

29. Went swimming in "red flag" rough surf...
I grew up swimming in the Atlantic, and I thought I could handle it. I didn't realize the elastic in my swimsuit panty was shot until I got in the water. So there I was, frantically trying to tie a knot in the waistband while these intense waves knocked me down. I couldn't get out beyond the breaking point.

When my head scraped the sand the second time, making me see stars, I said "to hell with it, I'm coming out naked if I have to," and got out. Fortunately the suit clung to me until I could cover up.

30.  I was talking with a friend of mine who was waiting outside the
courtroom to testify in a murder trial (he was the EMT who arrived after the first call).

He said to me, "a friend will bail you out of jail at 3:00 in the morning, but a good friend will be sitting next to you saying wasn't that a hoot?". I responded , "a friend will help you move, a good friend will help you move the body". Nobody laughed. Bad timing?

34. Waiting to go to the ER when I had a raging pnemonia
that deveopled quickly into ARDS (Accute Respitory Distress Syndrom). If I had only gone to the ER ten hours earlier, I would have safed myself a month long stay in ICU complete with mega doses of Advan and Morphine, a combination that produced some of the wildest halucinations I have ever had and let me tell you, I was well aquanited with the letter LSD when I was growing up......

I ended up with a hole in my neck, a hole in my stomach, you can't feed yourself when you have a trac, and a lifelong commitment to Harold, the hose from my O2 Machine......
