What characteristics define you as a person? |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 12:49 PM by Shell Beau
I am a very genuine person. What you see is what you get. I am thoughtful, caring, and a very giving generous person. I love to make people laugh and can make fun of myself. I can have a very silly-goofy sense of humor and a mouth like a sailor when with my friends. I can also be very stubborn and prideful. I have a hard time saying I am sorry when I know I am wrong, but I make myself (even though it I have a hard time doing it). I try to see the good in everything. My husband also says I am very forgiving. I don't like to show my sadness, and it takes a lot to make me cry. Especially in front of others. I am not a very emotional sensitive person, but I show sensitivity to others (if that makes sense).
So what are you like?
On edit: This sounds like a dating ad. Ha!

Do you have any creative abilities?

5. Hmmm...this will take some doing! |
|
I lead with my mouth...and my foot's not usually far behind. My joke is "what's the flavor of the day?" I HATE to hurt people's feelings and usually apologize quickly if I've done so. I love to laugh, and to make others laugh too...I have some artistic ability, and it comes out in my photos. But I'm lazy as well, and won't work hard enough to make it as a pro. But I have fun and at this point in my life that is enough. I'm smart and intellectual; I love to read fiction as well as non-fiction. I love classical music too. I too try to see the good in everything. I'm very emotional and cry easily. There's always Kleenexes nearby! And believe it or not, I have a TERRIBLE temper and from time to time it does show up.
That's probably enough! :hi:

10. Screwball often sick sense of humor... |
|
I'm very compassionate, intellectual, a bit of a loner, well-rounded, easy to get along with. Eccentric, definitely that! I'm very conscious of what others think about me. I'm sensitive about that. I hate it when people don't like me, it rarely happens, but it bothers me when it does. My nature is to be competitive, I appear laid back and everything, but I'm exactly the opposite. That may define me the most, because my competitiveness allows me to be pretty good at anything I ever undertake.

18. it stems from my family.... |
|
all of my relatives are athletes, my Uncle was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers for example. I was born premature, so I was always the smallest, and I'm not a great gifted athlete, I have great balance and natural strength, but I'd lose races, or contests to see who could throw rocks the farthest. Things like that. Sports was so big in my family that I hated to be last in stuff. So, I worked like a madman until I was the best at what I did. After HS, I was a more celebrated athlete and well-known state wide than any of my relatives who used to beat me at stuff. I just took that mentality and I apply it to everything. So that's kinda my deal anyway.

24. Very similar backgrounds. My brother |
|
was the all-star athlete in high school. Same goes for my dad and his brother. For some reason my dad thought girls should do ballet and gymnastics. So that is what I did. But I still wanted to be the best in my class. Now when I am playing board games or anything else that requires a winner, I am hardcore. When my brother and I play wrestle, even when it hurts and I am near death (joking about the near death), I refuse to let him know it hurts. I take the pain. That is also part of my stubbornness.

That's a good-time party game for you! It's really funny because people who are impressed by big words think Will is some sort of intellectual. Those of us who know better know he's a total fraud and wouldn't know what to say unless he was being fed his lines by the RW media machine.
As for the smart bit, I will quote Homer Simpson:
"I am so smart! I am so smart! S-M-R-T! I mean S-M-A-R-T! :dunce:

I'm not whiny and I have a hard time asking for help, so if you see me upset and ask for help, know that it's very real and I'm probably at my breaking point. I have a hugely compassionate, healing side to me, but I don't like to show that to everyone. I have children, worked with children for years, and adore children. I am immensely silly and have a weird sense of humor which leads people sometimes to mistakingly think I'm not bright. Nope. I can outwit most people when I must (yeah, I can be competitive too).
I like to wear my heart of my sleeve when I love someone and just wear my heart on my sleeve in general (not phony). Don't ask me to hide that or repress my feelings because it will break my heart. I work very hard (again, without whining about it; it's just who I am) and expect a lot out of myself. I'm pretty much a perfectionist to the point of not cutting myself a break in most things. I need to be around people who love me enough to understand the fragility that's sometimes behind all that. Someone who can be there and be strong for me without me having to ask (because I have a hard time asking), but because they want to be.
:)
edit: I can be hard to keep up with too (for many, but not all). :D

I am dead honest, sometimes brutally so. I hate game playing and hedging - I dont like to be led on or lied to and I won't do it to others.
Dependability (in over 30 years of working, I've called in sick maybe ten times - I worked all day the day my oldest daughter was born - young and stupid).
Punctuality - I'm NEVER late, no matter what.
Loyalty - my friends can always count on me to be there for them.
Practicality - I can budget well, I don't waste money, I think before I act (online tests tell me I'm a Vulcan :) )
Sense of humor - I have a very whacked out and offbeat sense of humor.
and oddly,
Spontaneity - I've made the decision to move in the morning and done it by afternoon (and that was from Vermont to California - doesn't seem to fit with practical but it did actually). I don't get tied down by possessions and I'm not afraid of change - actually, I really enjoy change.
I am a bundle of contradictions, in truth.

63. Honesty. Empathic. Elitist, with obligations to the unfortunate. |
|
I cannot tell a lie, I would stammer and fidget and my voice cracks if I even try.
I feel the pain of everyone, as Dinosaur Junior sang.
I generally don't believe that I deserve anything more in the world than anyone else or that anyone else deserves less. Yet I am keenly aware that I have talents and abilities far above the average. But I still don't think what I do is more important than what anyone else does, or that I should be more highly compensated for it. You see, I am conflicted, very conflicted, about success. I have it, but I just don't see that I deserve it. Or I do deserve it, because I can do certain difficult and complicated things better than almost anyone, but in the end, I don't see the point to what I do anyway, so why should the fact that I am succesful at it mean that I deserve a better life than anyone else. Garbagemen should be paid as much as lawyers, I think.
So, I am elitist because I know what I have, but I feel an obligation to give and to help others who weren't blessed by the accident of birth with the abilities I have, thats the obligation.
