All "Nice Guys" need to watch Swingers. Now. |
|
Who cares that it was written by Vince Vaughn, who is a racist Republican scumbag.
The movie is gold...and it pretty much spells out dating....
Nuff said...guys? Back me up on this one?

But he did co-write a great freshman script.

The Vaughn approach, or the Favreau approach? I mean doesn't the ending paint Vaughn's character as being totally full of shit, while Favreau's character gets the girl?

Favreau is getting NOWHERE! In the end, though, you have to get over your pain and just get on with it. The scene where Favreau finally 'gets it' (when he meets Heather Graham) he's is adopting Vaughn's stragegy - he sees her as the bunny rabbit.
And again, the movie sums it up that you have to trust your instincts.

13. Maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle... |
|
I guess at the beginning, Vaughn and Favreau are on opposite ends of the spectrum, and during the course of the movie, Favreau takes some cues from Vaughn, grows into himself, and cowboys up a little bit to get the girl, while remaining a good guy. Vaughn on the other hand, remains an asshole who will probably never grow up.
I don't know, it's been quite a while since I've seen it. I'll have to give it a spin this weekend.

I wasn't aware of that. Of course, I didn't know Kinky Friedman was good buddies with the Bushes either.
Anything online in the way of more details about things he's said or done?

21. Oh! Do you remember any instances? |

I am just curious b/c it would seriously change my opinion on him. I can handle (barely) the republican (hey, everyone has their faults even if that is a pretty bad fault), but I can't handle the other.

23. Hmmm well one hairdresser |
|
Said she cut his hair and he was a lousy tipper, and always made jibes about the arabs in LA, and how they ruined downtown...also made lots of jabs about mexicans.

17. Strangely enough, Kinky has been good friends with several prez's |
|
Including Clinton and Carter. He's also friends with Imus, and Howard Stern...as well as Willie Nelson.
My guess is Kinky is just not able to be pigeon holed into politics. Hope he doesn't become Governor tho...

9. Swingers is a good movie. |
|
It's unfortunate that you have to play by the "rules". These games are the thing I hate most about dating. So obnoxious that you can't just be yourself.

And the 'rules' have been around for longer than homo sapiens have...every animal species has their rules...whether it be the dance of mating cranes or snakes...

I've tried to watch it several times and have never been able to finish it.
There are no appealing characters in it, and there are numerous scenes that make me cringe watching them.
