HHHEEELLLLPPPPP!!! I left the faucet in the laundry room on!
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 06:42 PM by xultar
OK. So I left the faucet in the laundry room on.
I broke out the shop vac and got the water up in the laundry room

BUT

It leaked into my basement through an a/c vent. I hope.

Do I need to get someone out here to change the insulation in that area of the basement...what is strapped to the floor joyces?

Am I gonna have mold and shit all over now?

What do I need to do?

My basement is unfinished concrete. There is water on the floor in the basement. I couldn't take the madness so I just brought the effin shop vac upstairs. I just couldn't look at the mess.

I'm running the fan on the ac hoping to dry out the one duct tonight

HELP!!!!!

3. How long was the water on the floor/down the duct?
If you have any box fans or such, you may want to run those on high in basement with windows open for about 12-24 hours. Would give the basement floor a chance to dry out.

6. I don't know about leaving my basement windows open . Not that my
area is bad but I don't think I could sleep.

come to think of it. The humidity out side is worse than what it would be inside. I will run some fans though.

9. Those are floor joists. You need to get all the water out...
of that basement or you could develop some very nasty and unhealthy molds.

14. If you're in a wet region or have humid weather it's essential...
to dry the basement as soon as possible. :(

15. Hey baby! Went to Lowes (Blue store) and purchased a dehumidifier
I got the 70 pint one. It is plugged in and on DRY - the highest setting.

The floor is nearly dry now. I don't think it came through the floor. I think it came through the A/C vent. Which means my lower level A/C unit is probably done in for.

I decided to call the insurance company just in case.

Thanks so much for replying to my post. After I cleaned up the initial mess I was scrambling to get to DU cuz I knew my friends here would be able to help.

17. My laundry tub once overflowed and before
I could clean it up quickly, it ran down my heat/a/c vent and blew out the circuit board on my furnace. Of course, it was about 1 week before Christmas, so the house got cold quickly and it cost $350 to fix. I hope you don't need a new circuit board!
