Googling your subject line yields a gazillion help sites saying that it isn't a problem with digital media. Of course, this is still the internets, so accuracy is not guaranteed, but I think it's a fair bet. Now dropping them in the river, I can tell you from experience, is not a good idea...

I've done it 6 times in the past year. X-rays do not effect digital cameras.
