Great Britain is the Island consisting of England, Scotland, and Wales. United Kingdom is the country that consists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. At least, that's what it was according to the dictionary I was looking at today.

While Bernini was an architectural genius, Borromini's work is much more unusual, and in keeping with the over-the-top-ness that was the Baroque.
And if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it. FSC

I saw great parallels between Emperor Henry and Bill Clinton on one hand, and Gregory and Newt on the other, in comparison of the Investiture Controversy to the Impeachment of Bill Clinton. Thoughts?

Think of 35mm film as the equine, 16mm as the human, and IMAX as the blue whale.
Which is btw, why I believe that them tough sumbitches that carried the IMAX camera and film to the top of Everest could not possibly be human.

jpeg looks at blocks of eight pixels and, if they have similar color and brightness values, mushes them together to an average value. That's why you get artifacts, and why jpeg files get worse when you re-save them with jpeg compression a second or third time.
LZW compression looks at each pixel, and does something like this: Let's say that pixel #1234 has a value of 10C, 15M, 20Y, and 40K. If the compression process sees that pixel #2256 has the same values, instead of describing it by its color value, it just says the binary version of "same as #1234." An oversimplification, but you get the idea.
That's why TIFF files with large amounts pixels that have the same color as other pixels (such as a blue sky) compress to smaller files that ones that do not.
You've learned something tonight.

|
But not another type, that associated with the conditioner?

89. Nope. It's the Miracle of Polymerization. |
|
(Shampoo doesn't generally have any soap in it anyway; it has detergent, which is different.)
What happens is the the shampoo has long-chain molecules (polymers), and it has two different kinds of them.
One kind has one end that "sticks" to dirt, and the other end "sticks" to water a bit more strongly than the first end sticks to dirt. So these molecules grab on to some dirt, then carry it away when the other end sticks to the rinse-water molecules.
The other "conditioner" molecules have one end that REALLY likes to stick to hair, and another end that likes to stick to water--but only enough to keep it in emulsion in the shampoo bottle. So when you rinse, it stays put because one end of it is more attracted to hair than the other end is to water.
Another oversimplification, but there you go.

nifty little compounds, one side hydrophobic, one side hydrophilic. Called mycells, micells? Soap won't work, it makes salts. Your belly does the same thing to break down fats and get them into your guts.
But, I'm smart enough to use more than one product while bathing, so I never saw the point in combining products. Plus I don't understand how the conditioner works with shampoo. I don't use stuff I can't understand.;-)
How you doing these days.

This "How can the shampoo take one thing out of your hair and put another thing in at the same time" question is one I've heard a lot. People seem surprised to hear the answer, though I don't know why.

Especially if it involves subesquent hospitalization.
Disclaimer: They are indeed impressed by this, but there is the downside of the lingering suspicion that you're a raving lunatic.
I didn't sayit was the BEST way, just one way.
