Mr. 'pede is in the hospital
:( He had been feeling kinda bad for a couple of days. Yesterday he got hit with severe abdominal pain. He called 911 then called me at work. It was his day with the car, so a co-worker drove me home. I love those guys. :yourock: At a job I had before, you'd need to give two weeks notice to attend your own funeral. Anywho, it turned out to be a perforated ulcer, so that meant a little quality time with the surgeon. He'll be in ICU a couple of more days so he can be closely monitored, then on to a regular room for some more recuperation. Luckily he's at the VA so everything is covered.
I miss him, the dog misses him, and its too quiet around here.

As an aside, while waiting for the surgery to get done, I picked up a paperback out of the hospital's "free books" cart. It's by Irving Wallace, written in the late '70's and called "The R Document." It's about how the FBI director and the President are pushing for passage of a 35th amendment to the Constitution that would cancel the Bill of Rights in case of national emergency, in this case a seemingly alarming increase in crime. I've read about a third so far. With our real-life Homeland Security and Patriot Act and forged documents, the story is down-right creepy. I'll put it back in the cart when I've finished it, this is something people should read.

2. Yikes on both counts!
Glad he was so quickly diagnosed and treated. The book sounds scary, too.

7. It could have been a lot worse
if it had gone on much longer. But with the kind of pain he was having it wasn't something he could try to ignore.

8. Thank you, he'll be OK
He just feels so, well, "useless" right now. Told him tonight that he had an important job - keeping tabs on "The Vice President" (the crash cart) out in the hall. :)

4. I will send you cyber flowers and lots of hugs. I hope he's on
his many legs soon and you will have some good times during his recovery. After all, think of the honey doos he can do while sitting
around, watching sports and stuff. Hugs to you both. :)

10. He says he's
"gotta get out of here and mow the grass." I told him I'd take care of it, which means asking the lady next door to give me the number of the guy who does her lawn. Actually, I COULD get the book out, figure out how to start the mower, and probably manage to run the thing up and down in somewhat straight rows. Then again, maybe not...:D

My son was in ICU for 3 day a couple of months ago. Scarry shit. My hopes are with you.

11. Your prayers are most welcome
and it is scary. I've never been in the hospital myself except for the ER after a car wreck, and that wasn't serious. I really feel for all the folks in the ICU.

18. He'll be back to his old self
before he knows it. He has a daytime male nurse who's a real hoot, keeps hubby in stitches. Oops, did I say "stitches." My bad.

25. The dog has been really mopey
He's not used to being home alone all day. But he's good boy and I put his daddy's best deck shoes in the closet so he doesn't decide to take any revenge for any perceived abandonment.

27. I will
Got a busy weekend with the last three days of my real estate agency course and the final on Sunday. The course runs for three weekends (Friday night, 8 to 3 on Saturday and the same on Sunday). It's like where did the weekend go? And before this course, I had the same routine for four weekends with Principals. But after Sunday, I'm done with my required classes and can sit for the licensing exam if I want to. But the first thing I'm going to do is Clean My House !

28. I used to work ICU, and it sounds to me as though his stay in there is
purely precautionary. I think he'll be fine! And you take care of yourself, too...you've had quite a shock, and this is the time when you should proceed cautiously around vehicles, and sharp objects, OK? Anytime you have a big grief, it's easy to have an accident. Don't mean to scare you, though! You and your husband are in my thoughts...:grouphug:
