Update on my kitties
I just heard from my mother, who called from my old house. Apparently my ex- left a note saying she moved out and that the cats are my responsibility now. Please note, SHE DID NOT TELL ME THIS IN HER ORIGINAL PHONE MESSAGE. :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

They were almost out of food so my mom gave them some more, and she also checked their water. I can't take the cats until August 1 at the VERY earliest, so I'll have to find somebody to look after them for a couple of weeks. I'm only in town three days a week and my old house is way across town from where I work, so it's next to impossible to be there for them more than twice a week.

I am so angry with my ex- right now. This is such a pattern with her: drop a grenade, run like hell, let somebody else clean up the bodies. DAMMIT she makes me mad!!!! How could she just abandon those two cats like that, after all the love and affection they've given her?!?!?!?!?

6. Can your mom look after them for the next ten days?
They are gorgeous and I agree with the other poster...now all three of you will be rid of her. Those cats are just darling. PS My ex-husband pulled the exact same stunt on me many years back. It was just part of his way of dicking everyone around.

7. I live with her, 100 miles away in another town
I have some friends who could probably help, and the neighbors may be able to do it, too. I just can't wait to get my own place. This woman is driving me INSANE.

8. Oh. Thank god it is only ten more days then.
I find that I can leave my cats alone for about 3 days with plenty of water and food and EXTRA DEEP litter in the trays. Good luck, hon

10. thanks sweetie
Today is going to SUCK. I have to work until 4:00 and then I don't know if I'll even have the courage to go over to the house now that she's moved out of it. God, I hate divorce.

I've gotten a ton of support from this group. I wouldn't trade that for all the messed-up ex-spouses in the world :P

20. Hey, PM me nnns.
I believe we live near each other so I may be able to help you out. I don't have a car, but if you live close by, I'd love to help you out. I couldn't imagine having my baby in that situation. :hi: Post this in our forum, in case we live too far apart.

23. Sure will
Lydia Leftcoast volunteered to check on them, too. Right now it's just very hard for me to be at the house alone-- all that baggage, the reminder of what a failure i was as a husband, etc.

i'll let you know!

You even gave her the benefit of the doubt, believing she would never be that inhumane. I'm glad your babies turned out to be okay. Good luck, sweetheart, truly.

15. she == the devil
thanks dear. I really hope I can get over there today. Otherwise I'll call the next-door neighbors and have them look in on them until I can spend some quality time up there. I've been really down the last couple of days and right now it's hard just to get to work.

I haven't been so mad at her in my life. What an insensitive evil she-devil she has turned out to be. I can understand her ditching me, but ditching the cats? What did they ever do to her?

:grr:

16. MIght I suggest getting those big multi-day feeders or extra bowls?
Two things you've mentioned in your post - earliest you can take them is August 1st and you couldn't make it over for more than 2 times a week.

Cats are very resiliant that they should be fine alone for the next 8 days until you can take them into custody. Go to your local dollar store and pick up a few extra food/water dishes (oversized ones if they have them) and put them out there for your cats to use. I have oversized feeders that I have used for my cats when I've been gone for 3-4 days and they're fine. It's a tough period until you make the transition but you can do this!! The cats have each other and they'll make do until they move to their new home!

24. I have 2 big boys and get about 2 days from one box.
Maybe 3 days if I'm Jack and I can put up with the smell. Jack likes to piddle right outside the box after that.

21. Glad the meowbabies are ok and that your mom was able to
look in on them. (Reminding self to leave a house key with my dad when we go to Canada.. just in case of another terra event that keeps us from coming home in a timely fashion.)
