Long John Baldry has died.
Elton John took his name from Baldry.

Blues legend Long John Baldry has died at age 64 at Vancouver General Hospital after a four-month battle with a severe chest infection.

1. Don't try to lay no boogie-woogie
on the king of Rock and Roll!

He gave so many their starts - Elton John, Rod Stewart and Julie Driscoll, among many others, worked in his 1960s bands. He was a literal (6'7") giant of the British Blues era.

RIP Long John :(

2. Damn...
He was one of the greats. What a shame they all seem to die so young.

3. "I set the gaze a-straight, and the straits are clear"
One of my earliest misheard lyrics, from "A Thrill's a Thrill".

RIP, LJB.

4. Only 64? I had though he was older than that. What a bummer.
