My Cat Just Finished Licking All My Fried Chicken Scraps
What's that about?

In the past week she has also eaten:

A full piece of french toast we left out not thinking she would touch.

The top of a blueberry muffin.

A full piece of bread that I was going to use to make a sandwich in the morning, but left out to run to the bathroom for like 3 minutes, came back, and I was one slice short.

Insanity.

5. some cats have a "thing" for carbohydrates
We used to have one at work who craved crackers and popcorn.

At first, I wondered whether your cat was attracted to butter and oils (e.g. in the muffin) -- but if the bread was unbuttered, maybe it's the carbs!

The french toast is quite possible -- a lot of cats like eggs.

8. Watch those carbs! Seriously!
I just found out my kitty has diabetes - if yours hasn't started eating this stuff because it's getting diabetes it can GET it from eating these kinds of foods.

10. I had a cat once that would steal bread every chance he got
If I left a loaf of bread unprotected on the counter, he would plow right through the wrapper, straight down the middle of the loaf, leaving this big groove about an inch deep by about an inch and 1/2 wide.

of course he also stole tomatoes from the garden.

15. how about "Mango Cat"?
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 07:36 PM by Lisa
My co-worker was on an development project in Thailand when she found a stray kitten stealing food from their compost pile. I suppose his mainly-vegetarian diet was out of necessity -- there was literally nothing else for him to eat, except for insects and the occasional rodent or bird! She adopted him and managed to get the permits to import him to Canada after her workterm ended. Even when he was well-fed, he maintained a liking for fruit (especially mangoes and very ripe pineapple). He would eat North American fruits like cherries and canteloupe too, but preferred the tropical stuff.

12. Wow. An omnivorous cat.
The cat I had was pure carnivore. No accounting for kitty taste, I suppose!
