While I'm in New Orleans tomorrow....
Do you all want me to stop by Marie LaVeau's to get her to do a little ritual to clean all of this negative energy out of the lounge?

Is it just me, or is it thick in here?

13. speckled trout... yumyumyum...
I lived in NO from 1980-1984, and was a great fan of Eggs Pontchartrain at Sbisa's on Decatur (poached eggs on pan-fried trout with hollandaise). Just went to their website and I see they no longer offer this dish. :-(

18. Sherry had pawn shop band of gold.....
A sink full of dishes and a love grown cold,
Along came a boy, pretty as the devil,
She took his hand, the whole thing unravelled,
There's no turnin' round,
It's broke down.

Billy took the ring, jammed it in his pocket,
Drove down town and tried to hock it,
Down at the bottom of Lake Ponchartrain,
There's a love not carved inside a wedding ring

Ah, I love it when they bring up Lake Ponchartrain in a song.....

19. I just got back. Try August!
Newer place on Tchopotoulis (SP) that is amazing. Beautiful place, three courses for $45 and some of the best food I have ever had. I had the heirloom tomatoes done four ways for the appetizer, and it is the best dish I have had in years. The crispy blackfish with Silver Queen corn and corn foam and crabmeat and caviar was excellent, and the 5 mini-desserts were plenty good, although I think I would have two appetizers and skip the dessert. Wonderful service, the chef/owner visits every table, and all the food is locally sourced.

Did I mention the heirloom tomatoes?

I also hit Mother's, Acme and Deanies while I was in town. Stayed at the Iberville Suites, which is run by the Ritz Carlton at about a third of the price.

My one regret is that there were no good name bands playing. I caught a good no-name blues band on Bourbon, but the last time I was there I saw Alan Toussaint twice, which just totally rocked.
