Hey New Yawkers, I love your town! Just got back... |
thanks to all of you for the advice. I had a wonderful time and couldn't have been treated better by the locals. The night time boat ride around the city in the misty rain was pure heaven. If you haven't tried it, it far surpasses most of the other attractions (except maybe those hot firefighters signing the 2006 calendars at Time Square).

1. The dump does have some charms |
when you come right down to it. I guess there is a reason so many continue to live here.

2. Thank you. Many of us, |
including myself, bemoan our lot here, but won't leave because we can't think of any other place on the planet that offers so much of everything.

3. Three observations from an outsider... |
I was there five years ago and this time there seemed to be hardly any homeless and much fewer panhandlers. However, the streets were much dirtier this time, but of course it was lousy with tourists who probably do a great deal of littering. But of all the street sales and pitches, I longed for one person to appear who would offer me a foot massage. Three bucks a massage, one minute a foot, and he could make a thousand bucks in a day. Without tips. Never mind...I loved every minute, even with the record breaking heat!
