3 days till Paris....Almost ready, getting wicked excited, finally
Ok folks, we're at T-minus 3 days for bicentennial_baby's trip to the City of Light.

I'm 99% packed, money in order, 100 euros in hand for when i arrive, transport routes worked out, paperwork for school and lodgings together, passport and flight papers together...

I still have a few things to pick up, but i think i'm actually almost ready to go! :bounce:

I am soooooooo ready to be there already!! I wanna go now! :bounce:

31. Good for you
I think one can be more open to whatever comes their way traveling that way. Course I suppose that depends on your traveling partner/s.
I traveled to Europe (Germany, Austria, Holland), with a guy who HAD to take 50 pics of every location in the Frommers guide book. I swear he sent 100 rolls of film home with me (he stayed longer). It drove me nuts. He never stopped for a minute.

You might want the DK guide to France along for the ride, too. Lots of great little day trips out of Paris (thank goodness for the RTA!) that you might enjoy if you have the time. :bounce:

I hope you'll have a sunny day for Chartres-those windows are astonishing! And don't miss St. Chapelle in Paris (within walking distance of Notre Dame-I love that little cathedral)! Never been to Parc Asterix, but it looks pretty cute (Way better choice than Disney-and this coming from a 16 year Disney vet)!

39. Two things you must know when visiting Paris...
1) It's absolutely impossible to buy bad wine...it doesn't exist in France.

2) The French are NOT rude...and they do have a sense of humor. Learn some very basic French phrases (there are websites that will help you with this if you don't already speak the language). Try to use these phrases. Your actual success at sounding French matters little. Most people will respect the fact that you're making the attempt and either try yo help you or just respond in english (since they all speak english anyway).

Have fun! I was there for a week a few years ago and had a great time.

41. Excellent. You'll love Paris.
It's amazing walking down a random street and realizing that every building you see is older than the country you live in.

It's amazing when visiting the Louvre when you realize that only about 2 feet of air separates you from 600+ year-old paintings. Hell, you could TOUCH them if you wanted to (security might have an issue with that, though).

I believe that countries are like people. The U.S. is a teenaged country...immature, brash, uncultured.

France is about 35 years old...young enough to still be enticing but old enough to have a certain level of maturity.

Have a great time :)
