Well we have some VERY depressed cats. |
|
They are walking around frowning and sighing. They hate it when we move. And it is obvious now that, that is what we are doing. Our calico sighed real hard earlier, she walked in and looked around and you could hear her SIGH as loud as possible.

2. Cats DO NOT like change |
|
everything is supposed to happen in the same order and at the same time as the day before! Unless of course a trip to the vet was in there. But then again - they do enjoy so much expressing their disapproval.

4. My cat would lose his mind if we moved |
|
He was born here 11 years ago. He's having a hard enough time lately because hubby is painting the interior so he keeps moving furniture and stuff. Every time Oops comes in, he's all freaked out because things aren't exactly the way he's used to them being. Cats are so funny.
When we remodeled the bathroom, he was traumatized. He likes to drink out of the sink and we got rid of the old one and got a new vanity. He was petrified of it - we spent weeks trying to coax him in there.

They have to see what we are doing. Nosy little buggers.

9. My mom's cat used to hate it when she went on vacation. |
|
Saw a suitcase and knew, wouldn't talk to her till her departure. Was really INSULTED. When she came back he'd be sitting down at the road, then he galloped up to the house, waited for her to enter the door and THEN he would ignore her for three days, just barely accepting her feeding him.

12. I had one growing up that would try to pack himself. |
|
He would hide in the suitcase. SO before you closed it you had to check to make sure that he was not in there.

13. *smiles* Goes to show that the ARE affected and SUFFER when we leave them. |
|

My mother's wouldn't hide inside but lie on top of the suitcase, a living accusation.
Our horses know, too, when we're about to go on vacation. My little one whinnies every five minutes and both are following us around as if we had the pockets full of apples... they suffer, that's certain. And there are not even any suitcases to be seen, there. But I know they know.

10. We used to call our cat "Baseboard" whenever we moved |
|
This was when we had only "Miss Kitty". She moved many times with us, and for days after a new move, she would slink along baseboards...never venturing to the center of any room.. Once the boxes were all unpacked, and she recognized familiar stuff, she was ok.

15. We just moved into our first home and moved three cats |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 05:36 PM by Terran
Two hated it for a day, the third got over it in two days. Now they love the place. I think they like it even better than our old rented house. But yes, cats do hate change ever so much, and they will let you know.
I can't picture a cat not eating because one member of a household moved out, however (as an earlier poster said); cats hate change but they're also very resilient creatures and they adjust easily--they just don't like being forced to do so.

16. I got a new kitten a few months ago, all the cats and the dog took a long |

time getting used to the kitten. I am currently painting walls and redoing the floors room by room, all the indoor/outdoor cats have moved outside and give me dirty looks.
