Some mighty fine shitkickers...

I admit it...I love cowboy boots...have three pairs right now, and am thinking about adding the ones above to my collection. I love the sound of the heels on the ground when I walk.

Pretty fine, huh? You ever wear 'em? Those above are Tony Lamas...drool.

1. I've got a pair.
I don't wear them often, but they are a nice looking pair. I like the roper toe and heel, so I bought a pair of Luccheses in black cherry finish.

2. My favorite pair
are justins in teal blue with black uppers.

I like ropers too, and I can just imagine how fine a pair in black cherry would be.

I have to lecture today...think I'll throw on the black justins...make me stand just a little bit taller. :-)

6. LOL!!!
Actually, if I ever get rich, I'm going to have a pair hand made by Little's Boots in San Antonio. That guy makes some beauties!

7. Is that the guy who makes boots for the rich 'n famous?
I think I know who you are talking about. You have to go in for a fitting, and then he will produce you a custom-made pair.

Starts at about a thousand bucks, if I remember correctly.

Those above will run me about 150 and I will wear them for at least 10 years. Tonys hold up really nicely.

Don't know Lou Casey...can only figure he's the guy I described above.

3. Those are some mighty fine looking boots!
I love my boots, especially a pair of Wilsons I got in Montana. They have that undercut heel that produces the swagger and a spur rest. I love my boots especially with my spurs that jingle jangle jingle. Can't wear them here, I take them off when I am done training but in some of the smaller towns, when I ride there, we go to lunch and everybody there has their spurs on. It is always funny to count how many topple over their chairs when they get up and their spurs catch the chair. Now I am not macho in the least but when you are going to "cowboy up", or "cowgirl up" in my case, you must have the right boots! Enjoy them.

5. Never worn spurs...
the Texas part of my family are big-belt-buckle winning cowboys...one is a fancy smancy roper who makes a great living in Colorado performing for people...

So I guess I am establishing my credentials that I ain't all hat, no cattle :-) .

Never worn spurs, but like to see a man with 'em on. Rrrowwwrrr. :-)

9. I do not use them much
usually just as a reminder that they are there if things get a bit out of hand. I mostly wear them because I like them and occasionally need them, they are kind spurs, not the mean kind. My husband gave them to me one year and they have my name on them in fancy, silver letters. I do not, however, own a pizza sized belt buckle. I was hoping to win one but have run out of the money to compete in the cuttings around here. I have a mighty fine roping horse but I do not rope, I value my fingers since I am a musician. The whole cowboy thing used to turn me off until I got involved with it. Yup, men with spurs, tight pants and a nice pair of chinks!!! Chaps do tend to bring out the best in a tight pair of jeans!

12. I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
(I GOT SPURS) JINGLE JANGLE JINGLE
Kay Kyser
- words by Frank Loesser, music by Joseph J. Lilley

I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
As I go ridin' merrily along
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong

Oh, Lillie Belle
Oh, Lillie Belle
Though I may have done some foolin'
This is why I never fell

I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
As I go ridin' merrily along
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong

Oh, Mary Ann
Oh, Mary Ann
Though we done some moonlight walkin'
This is why I up and ran

I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
As I go ridin' merrily along
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
And that song ain't so very far from wrong

13. Hey thanks!
You have no idea how many times I have been out pushing cattle and hummed that song but could not remember the words! Now I can sing it to the cows unless my voice scares my steed.

22. Then you haven't tried Stewart Boots.... which are hands down, THE finest
pieces of leather I have ever placed these gentile feets into...

http://www.sh3inc.com/stewart_boots.htm

I have princess & the pea feet, meaning, anything costing less than $100 is sheer agony for me. Custom fit is a MUST since I have flexible flat feet and plantar fasciaitis. Dansk clogs comprise most of my footwear.. So having my Stewarts custom made to my precise foot size was absolute heaven for me. I had mine done in pony hide, ultra black, ultra zen plain and simple.

Thick, soft, luscious.

14. I don't mean to be rude...but..
What's the point of cowboy boots?

I mean, it's not like you're riding around on horseback anymore. Shouldn't they have been retired as a fashion statement, oh, say, about 150 years ago?

15. Actually...some people DO still ride horses these days.
And furthermore, boots can be comfortable and stylish - just like any other form of footwear. They exist to provide us choices, so we all don't look the same.

16. Who says they're
a fashion statement? Who says the only reason to wear cowboy boots is if you're riding a horse? From the responses I've read on this thread, most use them as opposed to wearing them for fashion. Why shouldn't we enjoy their looks even if we buy them for utilitarian reasons?

30. Do you wear tennis shoes, cross trainers, athletic shoes to do
things other than to play ball or train for the oplympics?

My boots are more comfortable to me than Adidas or Nike. They are warm, comfortable, and cocky. I like them, and that's all that matters.

as I play 90% country-rock and C&W.

Got a new pair m'self last month - they're Ariats. They're made in China (GAAAK!) but they have all kinds of nice insole technology that make them very comfortable when standing for long periods of time.
