i found it especially irritating, when i used to work in offices, that people felt compelled to reflexively state "good morning" and then expect a response.

i finally started saying, "what's so good about it?" (taking a cue from a member of senior management who said that a lot) and people stopped coming by my desk.

suited me fine.
