So when & what was your last CD/album purchase?
I just got Sufjan Stevens's Illinois today from amazon.com. It is marvelous! Some fans have said it's jazzier than usual, but to me it sounded like a folk album - just neo-folk. Some moments are traditional and beautiful - like on the the non-rocky parts of "Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts." Sure to be in my top albums of 2005, whether I do a 10 or 20-album list. Leaning towards 20 since there are many albums out there and I decide to buy a small fraction. Some albums just hit you as being like classics, like Bonnie McKee and a few others did last year.

And I bought it on Saturday. I've been trying to locate this album for a long fucking time. I also picked up Isis - Oceanic Remixes and Reinterperatations and the Isis - Mosquito Control EP while I was at it.

Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 07:09 PM by Tyrone Slothrop
Absolutely love it. It's my favorite that's come out so far this year.

And I have tickets to see him later this fall. I cannot wait!

The last one before that was "Hex Enduction Hour" by The Fall, I think.

12. Some people love it, some people hate it...
I'm in the latter camp. :)

If I wanted to hear quasi-retro piano rock, I know artists who do it a lot better than the thin-sounding White Stripes.

26. Adrienne Young and Little Sadie, The Art of Virtue
I picked it up on the way back from work tonight. As a matter of fact I'm listening to it right now.

If you like Americana/Alt Country/Bluegrass you will probably like it. It is better than her last album IMO. She does a killer cover of Brokedown Palace that is worth the price of the CD alone.
