My friend just had his rib broken by a chiropractor (just called me now)

The doctor was doing a back adjustment on him Friday and my friend said the guy put cream on his back so he would relax, and then crack. He felt intense pain, the chiro didn't charge him for the visit. My friend said he could not work Saturday because of the pain, so he lost a days work. He hurts when he coughs, sneezes or moving around. It was the first time he used this chiropractor.

I told him to call civil lawyer and that they would take his case for free, but to do it today.


Any thoughts, I think he has a case.

2. For me, the best thing to do is SEE A DOCTOR NOW!

Yes on the lawyer, but his health is more important, IMHO....They can tell via x-ray of course, just where the break is and if there's any other damage. My husband cracked a rib falling in the shower, and the MD was able to tell a bunch of things from the xray and get him some good painkillers to boot....These things are VERY painful. Your friend has my COMPLETE sympathies.

5. I have used a chiropractor with no problems

There are good doctors and bad doctors as in any profession

This chiropractor wants him to be x-rayed at his clinic I said get it done independently and contact a lawyer.

I've broken or cracked ribs three times, mountain biking, mountain biking and early in my life wrestling. I know how painful they are and what little they can do except wrap it.

3. Definitely see an M.D. Miz t. broke some ribs in May.

You need to know if there has been any organ damage.
There is nothing they can do to speed/aid recovery of the ribs.
Just pain management.
Takes about 6 weeks for full healing.

I know if a chiropractor charged me after doing something like that, I would have to crack more than a couple of *his* ribs. lol what a prince among men

But he should get taken care of first.

The firm that I work for practices tort/malpractice law.

Doctor first, then lawyer.
