4 scout leaders killed at Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia.
Looks like they were pitching a tent and touched a power line. All were from Alaska. Sad shit.

17. I agree. Some get too charged up when they hear these stories.
It's important to maintain an element of composure. No need to generate panic and fear.

18. it's a shame these incidents generate such static.
We need to convert all the negativity into positive energy. To bridge the gap.

Oops! I really meant to write something sanctimonious accusing you of being cold and uncaring. How dare you make light of this situation? What sparks this attitude? Do you respond this way to all current events? :P

13. It is a tragedy. Some of the kids witnesses it, I believe.

My dad saw a similar thing happen to a journalist when he touched their van that had its antenna touching a power line. The man burst into flames and my father had nightmares about it afterwards.

23. Something similar happened to a reporter for the L.A. ABC affiliate in
2000 (or maybe it was 1999). They'd raised the boom so that it was touching power lines, but no one noticed. She was holding the frame of the sliding door and stepped down. As soon as her foot hit the ground . . .

She lost one arm and one or both lower legs, IIRC. :(
