But let's say I'm cautiously optomistic.
I didn't mean to rain on your thread. I am happy we're back in space again. :-)

We are able to watch launches live here outside my house in Lake Mary, so seeing that smoke trail just seems eerie after Challenger and Colombia. Though I was catching the Columbia news LIVE on Fox News (dad was in control of remote) and wasn't alive for Challenger, I've seen the footage enough to have some apprehension left in me.
Glad though that we have "returned to space". Our local NPR station had a great production of "Countdown: Discovery" and I share terrya's fear that we shouldn't get too excited until a safe landing. But this is the first step. Way to go, NASA. :woohoo:

7. I watched the launch on MSNBC... |
|
Excellent coverage! They had cameras mounted on the external tanks and everything and you got to see the entire launch and then the jettison of the main tank! I live in Tallahassee so I'm too far away to see it in the sky, but it was still stunning!

8. I watched on my computer at work. |
|
It was through the FoxNews Web site. Same coverage as the TV. Saw the fuel tank jettisoned also.
