John Lydon (Johnie Rotten) lyric help needed.
At least, I think it's him. The song itself doesn't sound much like PIL or the Sex Pistols, but the lyrics go "I could be wrong, I could be right. I could be black, I could be white."

Anyone know which song this is? Am I way off base on voice ID?

Thanks!

2. Thanks! Which album?
Just got a video from a horse event I attended this month. The video maker really likes music and set the whole intro of people galloping their horses over huge fences to this song. It's way cool!

4. Rise
RISE
(Lydon/Laswell)

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be wrong

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be black
I could be white
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be white
I could be black

Your time has come
Your second skin
The cost so high
The gain so low
Walk through the valley
The written word is a lie

May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be right

II could be wrong
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be right
could be black
I could be white
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be black
I could be white
They put a hot wire to my head
Cos of the things I did and said
They made these feelings go away
Model citizen in every way

May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you

Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy

May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you

Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be right

I could be wrong
I could be right
I could be black
I could be white
I could be right
I could be wrong
I could be black
I could be white
Your time has come your second skin
Cost so high the gain so low
Walk through the valley
The written word is a lie

May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you

Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy (repeat)

10. And it was produced by Bill Laswell.
I saw that tour... John stopped the show after four numbers because people in the crowd wouldn't stop spitting. Jesus, it was 1986 people!

13. Yeah...
all in all, an amazing lineup for that session. (Laswell is one of my favourite producers, but I tend to prefer his jazz-oriented work, with John Zorn, etc., and also his remix stuff).

11. Excellent!
Already a well respected 'metal' guitarist, Vai was hired as a session musician by producer Bill Laswell to play lead guitar on 'Album' in autumn 1985. Vai plays guitar on all tracks. The basic tracks had already been recorded at Power Station Studios and Quad Recording Studios. Vai added lead and solos at Electric Lady Studios.

Vai, "Bill Laswell, the producer, called and I flew in and out of New York from Alcatrazz shows to cut the parts. I basically did all the guitar parts in two days... Some of the material I'd never heard and just went in and started playing on it. At the end, Johnny Lydon came in and liked it. "
Roger Trilling, "We recorded a few days of Vai at Electric Lady, and then moved over to RPM for three days of vocals. John, I think, got a cassette the evening before. The idea was to get him on the initial take, and if it didn't work, keep the tapes, which was Bill's music anyway."

It's rumoured Vai considers 'Album' to be some of his best work, appreciating the freedom he received to do as he pleased. He still refers to it as "a brilliant record". Lydon was also a fan of Vai's guitar work on the album, calling it "magnificent" and applauding it for its "energy".
