On Monday. OMG, where did all the time go?
First, I earned some extra income by taking a small group of students on a trip to Europe for ten days. Good part-time work if you can get it (LOL).
Then I spent the remainder of my time being a first-class, lazy-assed beach bum. I've read about ten books, played my guitar, but in all I've just been a lazy bum allowing the surf to lull me into a hypnotic trance. As I teach high school I need all the recuperation time I can get before going back into the classroom. For the most part I have good, hard-working students. However as my school district is a 'green-flight' district (SC public schools are still segregated, albeit not by race anymore, but rather by economics) I do have my fair share of spoiled brats and cry babys which can be rather trying on one's nerves so recuperation time is precious.
I am an avid bicyclist, but (as previously stated) this year I was rather 'lazy', and have only achieved 800 km of my normal 1000 km goal.
So, what should you do for the next month? My suggestion: relax and do whatever comes to mind - be spontaneous.

6. From your picture I'd say the opposite of lame |
|
As for passing your time, my suggestion would be to read around your subject. Stray to the outer edges of the reading lists, delve into tangential subjects, if it's a long established subject the read some of the major classics (e.g. with politics yu could read some Plato, Aquinas, Locke &c.).
Whatever you do, you should get yourself a project to accomplish. Otherwise you'll wake up one morning, and realise that the new term has begun and you've just pottered round working, working out, and posting on D.U. (not that they're bad things, but the long summer holidays are a real gift to students i.m.o.).

7. hell I'm the same way except I'm older and I never work out anymore |
|
since I hurt my back a few years ago.
I hatched a plan to run for office just to have something to do.
I do write a decent amount nowadays though. I need to finish my book.
And you aren't lame at all, psh......
At the very least, you're not as bad as I am. :)

So what are you doing up at this hour? I'm an early riser and woke up about an hour ago. I'm drinking coffee, 'trolling' the lounge and just goofing off.

9. I was going to go to bed hours ago |
|
but I called home and ended up BSing my little brother for a few hours and then my dad for another hour or so.
I'm just trolling the Lounge, thinking about reading the NY Times or a biography. I was tired hours ago, now I'm wide awake, haha.
I'm an early riser when I'm on a decent schedule. I get the feeling these last few late nights will make me get way off again.

Your ID page states Tuscon. Are you from somewhere else?
All I have planned for today is a haircut (woo-hoo). I've been a beach bum all summer and really look like a tramp right now; I could also use a shave (LOL).
Yesterday after returning home from the beach the heatwave caused an overload on our local substation and the power was out for two hours during the hottest part of the day (4-6pm). It was 103 in the shade. So, being the nut I am, I went out in the yard and doused myself with the hose. I received a variety of reactions from the neighbors, everything from "the nutcase is back" to "I wish I could join you". Today is to be the same: predicted high is 101.
