9. Well, I've been told there is some appeal for adults in them.
Especially the further into the series you get. I think the movies are cute, and I might read the books one day. Or not.

Lord of the Rings appeals to my child - he's 9.

I don't quite get that kind of logic.

The latest Potter books aren't too child oriented - he himself is 16-17 years old, and major characters die.
