A great, in-depth article in last Sunday's Washington Post Arts section on the evolution of his career. I know, a little late to post about it; it takes me a few days to get through the various Sunday editions of papers to which I subscribe, and I just noticed it this morning. Worthwhile reading if you've still got a copy lying around...

I had to laugh when the interviewer asked him why he took on all the "dark" roles in his movies. Walken said, albeit very true, (paraphrasing) "When you put a gun to your head and blow your brains out (Deer Hunter), it sort of type casts you."
That is probably true since every time I see him that scene comes to mind.

And I think it's that same "is he serious or is he kidding" aura that makes him such a riot in the comedy roles he's taken on recently. Can't think of another actor who's negotiated that edge so well. What a talent...
