My mom just spent $340 for an operation on her dog.
And mom pinches pennies so she really must love Spike. Her other dog Sam gets all the attention, but Spike must have a place in her heart.

2. He had a growth in his ear that was driving him nuts.
The vet removed that and a blood clot and said Spike should be fine.

3. I spent $1,100 on my cat last month to irradiate a thyroid tumor.

It saved her life.

My daughter is a veterinary technician. She's the current incarnation of St. Francis of Assisi.

I love my cat, but I love my daughter more and to her there's no question that saving a beloved animal is worth any price. I fear her wrath more than I fear a high credit card bill.

Here she is, surrounded by her almost-current menagerie. She has added another dog and cat to everything else since putting together this collage for me at Mothers' Day.

Some people love their kids, some love their pets, some love their pets like kids, some love their kids and their pets.

Takes all kinds. :)

4. Those who love their pets will spare no
expense to keep them well. I have a friend who spent $3400.00 without flinching to pay for her pug's surgery.

I hope Spike is doing well. He must be very special to your mom.

7. $3800.00 on one of my horses.
One of my brood mares had an ovarian tumor the size of a basketball that secreted massive amounts of testosterone. She damn near killed me several times. Back to normal, she is sweet and I would do it all over again if I had to.

Get well Spike, your mommy loves you lots you lucky boy.

5. Vet care is getting to be almost as expensie as himan care.
Well, not quite, but, last week I spent $93.00 for an exam and meds for my little flufferbutt's eye. She was keeping it closed most of the time,a nd it was tearing really bad.

I rarely get out of the vets office under $100.00 anymore, and that doesn't include the cost of Frontline, Heartguard etc. which I buy online!

6. I've spent many times that on my cats when necessary....
Their health is my responsibility. That's just all there is to it.

8. I've spent $2500 so far on my dog's left knee
And it's still not even 80% effective.

That's more than I've spent on my own surgical procedures throughout my entire life. It also doesn't include her $30/month anti-seizure medication.
