Crap. I just agreed to host a party in October.
I am so freaking goody goody.

I sense a trip to the Ikea kitchen section and Costco in my future. I do NOT cook, so this should be very interesting. Any tips? It is just going to be booze, finger food and desserts I think.

I just made a mistake...:scared:

1. OMG....I LOVE That Type Of Thing!
Do you live by a Trader Joe's? Their freezer stuff is great for munchie parties...

You have lots of time to try stuff and see what you like! What I love from the TJs freezer: the mini tacos & taquitos (with salsa & guacamole natch) and the veggie versions of the taquitos are great for those of that persuasion (I have lots of vegetarians in my family & they raved over the potato & soy chorizo taquitos. I just put them on a sepearate serving platter than the beef ones to avoid mix-ups!)

Also the frozen stir fry veggie egg rolls are deVINE! And the breaded chicken tenders you can serve with bbq sauce -- round everything off with a raw veggie platter and you're set!

That is my FAVE kind of party, hors d'oevres & drinks!

7. Great For Oct Fests -- TJs Spiced Apple Cider
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 10:04 PM by K8-EEE
If you put that in a crock pot on the porch or by the front door...the smell is so Fall-licious!! You just have to plug it in a couple of hours ahead of time and leave it with a ladle and some coffee cups.

5. You can almost just shop at Costco
and find all you need, depending on what sort of a party we're talking about.

What does the Ikea kitchen section have to do with the party?

8. Serving Platters, Wooden Spoons, Tongs, Wine Glasses
Tablecloths, trays....Great buffet service stuff at Ikea -- and the wine glasses, real glasses, come in 6 packs that are almost cheaper than plastic!

I see. (No Ikea around here.)

Sannum might be better off just renting that sort of stuff, unless entertaining is going to be a regular thing.

11. No Ikea? You are missing out!
I could probably outfit the entire party for less than 50 bucks. Their prices are amazing!

12. Depends On How Many People
I only rent if I have a LOT. The great thing about IKEA is that the stuff is designed so you can use it day to day for other stuff.

I have about six of these little canisters, I love them! For buffet parties I bring them out for cutlery and napkins. I like the Jesons' type look of it!

17. It's about 3 hours north
but my brother has an apartment up there (and is rarely there to use it) so it isn't too bad of a trip.

16. ****BEWARE****
Once you enter, you will never think of decorating your house the same way again. I find myself at Bed Bath and Beyond going "I am not spending five bucks for something I can get for 99cents!":P

18. This Is The $40 IKEA Computer Desk I Sit At Presently....
Although I got the baby blue & white combo....it's really nice although another WARNING is you have to put the stuff together yourself which is easy for anybody...except me, I have challenges in that area! I def manage to screw it up every time although am getting better, LOL.

Everything comes in a flat box...it's serve yourself and put it together yourself, but super cheap and nice Swedish company that doesn't give $$ to BushCo or anything!
