Please pardon me if I don't post in the "crush" threads.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them off of my "crush list." And, I truly think the world of most of you. I know some people, on occassion, name me in these types of threads and I am most appreciative, but I'm very uncomfortable with responding in kind. I posted "skinner" as a joke in the most recent thread, but that's pretty much the exception.

I would feel so much better if these types of threads would cease so that the people who lurk or who don't post as often don't get their feelings hurt when they aren't mentioned.

Also, IMHO, these types of threads add to the "cliquish" reputation that sometimes follows the lounge.

You just reminded me why I stayed out of those threads all this time - and inspired me not to further abandon my belief that they do more to alienate than they do to compliment others.

Yes everyone has something to contribute here. If anyone's familiar with Mike Malloy's show I know he talked about a place in Chicago called "Bughouse Square." It's a place where people go and get up on their soapbox and speak their minds. If a lot of people listen or not many at all, everyone has their say. That's what DU means to me; an electronic Bughouse Square.

47. Okay. Quick story. There's a storm coming in so the waves are

really huge. I'm trying to get out of the ocean and I turn and see this massive wave barrelling down on me. I try running out, but can't move. I can see this thing starting to break at a ridiculous height, but I know that running toward it to dive in is futile at this point. SO, just as I resign myself to the fate of getting brutally crushed, the undertow releases me and I can run toward shore. Of course, I'm screaming like a banshee -- and some woman on shore is peeing her pants from laughing - but, I did not get crushed.

Moral of the story: Who cares? I didn't eat a sand sandwich. :P

Swimming pools and the Gulf of Mexico were my babysitters.
Okay, well, older siblings were there, but they were mainly sunning themselves. The only place I feel true peace is in the water. I used to scuba, talk about a glorious experience.

I was a breach birth and I firmly believe that I was coming out right, saw what I was getting myself into and turned around to go back to the safety and peace of my mother's womb. :crazy:
