HawkerHurricane's NFL Power Ratings!
Here we go still another more time with HawkerHurricane's weekly NFL power ratings.

The rules are the same: 1 point for each win. 1 additional point for every win the teams you defeated get.
Tiebreaker: best record. In case of tie there also, my opinion.
Do to strange results in points, I'm beginning to wonder if my system is falling apart. Any comments?
Last weeks placement in parens...
Now, let's see some comments on this! I'm not going to stop posting these just because nobody comments!

32. Jacksonville Jaguars(32) 2 point, 1-7. Points put team
behind the team they beat.

31. San Diego Chargers(30) 4 points, 1-7. Winning 'streak' ends at one game.

30. Oakland Raiders(28) 6 points, 2-6. Are you sure these guys are
the defending AFC champs?

29. Atlanta Falcons(27) 7 points, 1-7. Beat a good team, get ranked
better than they are.

28. Detroit Lions(31) 7 points, 2-6. OK already, I'm
impressed. Not very, though.

27. Chicago Bears(29) 8 points, 3-5. I really like the Bears.
Not sure why.

26. NY Jets(24) 9 points, 2-6. Where's Broadway Joe when
you need him?

25. Pittsburgh Steelers(23) 10 points, 2-6. 5 game losing streak!

24. Washington Redskins(18) 13 points, 3-5. Three losses, drop in
standings.

23. Arizona Cardinals(26) 14 points, 3-5. Two game winning streak?

22. Houston Texans(25) 15 points, 3-5. Win vs Carolina bumps them
up.

21. New Orleans Saints(22) 15 points, 4-5. Ain't impressed.

20. Denver Broncos(17) 15 points, 5-4 Three losses in a row hurts
their standings.

19. Cincinati Bengals(16) 17 points, 3-5. Arizona ends winning streak at two games.

18. Cleveland Browns(20) 17 points, 3-5. A sentimental favorite with me.

17. Miami Dolphins(13) 17 points, 5-3. C'mon, fish, I know you are
better than this.

16. San Francisco 49rs(21) 18 point, 4-5. Surprise win helps out.

15. Buffalo Bills(10) 18 points, 4-4. Another victim of KCC.

14. Baltimore Ravens(15) 18 points, 5-3. Cream rises to the top.

13. Tampa Bay Bucceneers(8) 19 points, 4-4. NFL Champs last year.
Really.

12. Philadelphia Eagles(14) 19 points, 5-3. Donavan McNabb continues to prove Rush wrong.

11. St. Louis Rams(12) 19 points, 5-3. Surprise loss hurts. My
feelings.

10. New York Giants(11) 20 points, 4-4. Microsoft Word keeps on
trying to delete the NYG.

9. Green Bay Packers(19) 21 points, 4-4. Big win vs. Minnesota.

8. Dallas Cowboys(9) 23 points, 6-2. No comment.

7. Tennessee Titans(5) 24 points, 6-2. Bye week stagnates teams.

6. Minnesota Vikings(6) 25 points, 6-2. Two game losing streak
hurts a lot.

5. Seattle Seahawks(7) 27 points, 6-2. The mighty recover?

4. Carolina Panthers(3) 27 points, 6-2. ?

3. Indianapolis Colts(4) 33 points, 7-1. Quality team, even if I
don't care for them.

2. Kansas City Chiefs(1) 34 points, 8-0. WTF? How'd they get behind without losing?

1. New England Patriots(2) 37 points, 7-2. Four wins in a row, and
strange things happen.

1. The dolphins shouldn't have lost that game!
that was an abysmal performance, I agree they can do much better!

and the bills are STILL ranked higher? how does this work?

The Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated and they and the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers are in the top 5, the Oakland Raiders are ranked 30....what Bizzarro year is this

4. One more point...
I'm beginning to think the system needs work; but I won't change it until next year.

2. I'm surprised the Vikings stayed at #6.
I still think an 11-5 season and division championship is attainable.

3. The Vikings are in SIXTH place?
You're giving them way too much credit.
Being a Vikings fan since the 70s, I have to say they're playing their usual inconsistent quality.
I was thinking more like 10th place.

5. They are still leading thier division
Which might have more to do with how poorly Green Bay is playing than how good the Vikings are...

7. Go Lions: Guarantee ANOTHER playoff win in next 46 years
Yes, one playoff win in 46 years. Not to be too smug about it, but I think I can guarantee we will get another win sometime in the next 46 years. So there! (Gee, I hope so. Do you think we can do it?)

8. Yes, I do.
Just not this year.

(and they may not be playing in Detroit when they finally do win. Los Angeles Lions?)

9. Nope - they stay in Detroit
No danger of their EVER leaving. They may be bums, but they are OUR bums, and we're keepin' em. Enjoy the Thanksgiving game!

10. NFL getting desperate...
The nations biggest television market, and no NFL...and no city in the area willing to buy them a stadium outright...

11. Surf's up, Dude!
I agree - weird not having a team in LA. But, it won't be the Lions. And, probably to LA's benefit, I might add.

16. Every team looking for a stadium deal
Has threatened to move to LA.

49rs.
Chargers.
Vikings.
Cardinals.

I'm sure there are others.
To the owners, Los Angeles is the bogeyman used to get money: Give us a better stadium deal, or we'll move to Los Angeles!

Sorry but until there's a blemish on the negative side they should get props, period!

13. I'd take the Titans against the three teams right in front of them...
As for the Bucs, I hate to say it -- I really do -- but they're a long way from being out of it. Remember, New England was 4-4 the year they won the Super Bowl.

15. Bucs have a tough schedule
But I thought they would do better.

And I really thought that Oakland would at least look like contenders.

17. There's just no Buc O so far this year.
As for the Raiders, their age showed in the big game, and now it shows every game.

18. I agree
what happened in Oakland? Its definitely more than just age (though that is a contributing factor)

19. It only takes a few players to be just a bit off to fall off...
and age is the biggest contributor to that in Oakland. There just comes a point where the body says, "no more, not at that speed, etc..."

21. Whoa, Hawker, how do you figure this?
Your system is most assuredly out of kilter if you've got the 7-2 Pats ranked ahead of the 8-0 Chiefs. Hell, every other power ranking system I've seen has the Chiefs ranked at the top for a long while(if not the whole season). Perhaps you're weighting the "1 point for every win the team you've defeated gets". Perhaps you should knock this down to 0.5 or 0.75 points. Something, anything, for I think it is really skewing your rankings the further we get into the season.

That said, I hope all of the folks in Cleveland are ready to have their Brown's ass handed to them on a platter, courtesy of KAN-SAS-CITY!!!

GO CHIEFS!!!

23. I agree
Something is wrong with the system; but I'm hoping it will clear up. That would be easier than me fixing it.

And don't count your chickens, any given Sunday.
