The thing I hate about working on laptops is they make your hands
really warm.

I hate that.

End of pointless complaint.

Post your own.

You should be congratulated.

9. I hate when I am setting up to clean the gutters above the porch...
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 10:43 AM by BigMcLargehuge
which in less than four months clog with enough pine needles to create a weird black sludge and at least a dozen yellow jacket nests, and I have my crooked four foot length of copper tube that I use to scrape the mung out of the gutters, and I have my shop broom to clean the pine needles, now glued to the shingles with pine sap, from the roof, and I find a squirrel nest (and they aren't as happy to see me as I am to see them), and I go through th trouble of borrowing the ladder from my father in law (as mine is too short) except his is less a ladder and more a prototype of a ladder, or Great Ladder of the Civil War as we call it, and I get the ladder set up, and think I should probably extend the extention in case it slips so I can catch myself on the way down, but the catch is fused and I can't get it to work, so I say fuck it all, and prop the ladder up and brace it with a 2-by-4, gather all my gear, and climb up to the roof, then, just as I place my hands on the first row of shingles and start moving my gear to the workspace, the ladder slides out from underneath me and I fall and put my foor through the storm window as I tumble down onto the concrete and twist my legs up in the ladder wrungs so I can break my fall properly and end up with a streaming headache, several bruises, and a wife in panic mode...

I hate that.

Hell, fella, we just thought you were away because of the new baby. Didn't know you'd been in traction from home maintenance!
Kidding, hopefully, about the traction part. Good to see you back!

it's nice to be back... I was away on baby duty (not traction) though the fall did happen this weekend.

10. mine don't do that!
Why kind of a laptop do you have anyway? Sounds very strange to me. I have two ThinkPads and neither one of them causes my hand to get really warm or for that matter generate any heat whatsover on the keyboard. :wtf: ???

:kick:

12. It's a Dell Latitude, circa 2000
PIII 500, maybe they run hot. I have it resting on some plastic rails I made to keep the bottom off the table, but there's still a ton of heat coming through the keyboard. The fan works, and does kick on when required.

13. that is odd
One of my ThinkPads is a year 2000 one as well but it only generates some heat that is noticeable only if you put in on your lap for long periods of time.

I'd be worried about this if I was you. I could be a sign that something is not running right. ?

Best of luck.

14. I think it's a side effect of the ultra-light construction
It was bought specifically for it's weight, perhaps it's missing a few layers of insulation.

17. My Dell Inspiron gets really hot.
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 11:34 AM by I Have A Dream
I don't feel it on my hands, but if I have it on my lap, my legs sometimes feel as though they're on fire (even through clothes).

The Inspiron is really heavy.

My Mac PowerBook G4 12-inch laptop doesn't do this.
