My Senior Classes (High School)
Just picked up my last schedule in high school. In case you're wondering, we have 4 classes per semester at 90 minutes each. So we are basically getting the same amount of material in a shorter time span.

1st Semester

1) Government/Economics
2) College Calculus
3) Speech & Drama (taught by an MA liberal- seriously! YAY!)
4) Basketball

2nd Semester

1) Anatomy & Physiology
2) College English
3) Home-Ec
4) Basketball

Are there any DU tutors in the house? :D

4. In my school they actually have a weight-lifting class - no kidding
In the neighboring district they have three levels, with the third level having 'honors' classification.

:wtf:

6. Did it carry an 'honors' status?
In my state our GPA in on a 4.0 scale, but an honors class carries a 5.0 status.

As I teach German, levels 1-4, with 3 and 4 being genuine honors classes, this really irritates me.
I'm not alone either. The English, Math and Science teachers are in agreement with this point of view.

9. It Always Has Been
For a while now at least. We start practicing at 1:30 and go until about 5:30 or 6 o'clock.

19. For the entire school year?
Sorry but I am an old fashioned elementary school teacher and I can't imagine spending 4 hours a day practicing basketball for an ENTIRE school year. My dad was also a high school basketball coach, so it's not like I know nothing about basketball.

It saddens me when I think of all the other things (like other classes) you could be doing instead of playing basketball for 4 hours every day. Do you speak a foreign language? Any vo-tech classes you could take?

They actually call this "Parent and Child Dynamics." There is no sewing, I've already had that branch of Home-Ec. :puke:

11. You have done this all wrong. The last half of your senior year should be
taken up with Underwater Basketweaving...not anatomy...never anatomy. You need to take something like, say...oh typing. Do they even offer typing anymore?

13. Ask me about Calculus, I can probably do it
After two years of college level calc, I can solve complex differential equations like a robot, but I have to think about it to count to ten. If your school is like mine was, you will see more letters in your Calc class than you will in English.

Just being on DU, you should do fine in Gov/Econ. I would post questions on DU and get more than enough answers in a few minutes. Thanks, DU!

I can't see speech and drama being taught by a conservative. I live in Redneckville, and all the music and fine-arts teachers in my HS were aredent liberals.

Now, you have start thinking about college. Seriously, start applying in October if you haven't already.

Calculus, no. No way. I did take anatomy in HS so I might be able to help there. I remember a little of it.

20. Interesting... looks more like a college schedule.
I think the 90 minutes classes are a good idea though. Mine were all 42 minutes. Hard to fit much in...

My schedule was....

English 12 (world lit)
Physics
Calculus
Social Studies 12: Goverment
German
Study Hall
Gym
Study Hall
Study Hall
