What bands do you just not understand how people can like?
For me, KISS and Coldplay.

I just don't get it.

1. Lynard Skynard and their Ilk.
They have an obnoxious twang that doesn't even sound authentic!

4. By and large, I don't like most rap.
I don't consider rap groups to be "bands" per se, since they don't play instruments (maybe there are some that do, IDK). They are musicians, but I don't call them bands.

27. I'm 24 and hate rap.
I wrote a song on another thread. It goes something like this:

"In da club wit a half nakid ho."
blah blah blah
"Sippin on cristal"
blah blah blah
"Rollin in the escalade wit my homies"
blah blah blah
"Bitch is comin home wit me"
And then they say big asses, cash, and bling.

I'm so smart. I deserve money for making the next 500 top 40 songs.

17. Matchbox 20- right now the lead is solo, Rob Thomas
I think is his name. A few years ago they had this single, Push. "I want to push you a-round, well I will, well I will" or something like that. It was played nonstop on the stations I listened to. And on MTV which I watched at the point of time.

Good Charlotte is like poppy punk. They dress like they are all hardcore and wear makeup and have tattoos but they suck. They are just going with the trend. Pop in everything. Ugh. UGH. I hate pop rock and pop punk and all that bullshit. Can't play more than 4 chords and every song has the same structure. Can't tell half the bands apart these days. If you want to do pop, do pop. Don't mix it with rock. Have some damned respect for the music. *cries*

Then again, I haven't liked much of anything since grunge died.

Sigh.

21. It's the whole pretentiousness of it all.
I like to think my band is honest since, even though we're a hardcore punk-metal outfit, we don't dress in black with many piercings, and practice in plaid shirts and boxers.

29. Looking hardcore doesn't bother me.
It's when you try to look hardcore but sing poppy crap that sounds like it was written by some old man in an executive office.

There are a lot of bands that I can't stand to listen to- but in this day and age where damned near everything is written in offices by old executives who are trying to push an image, I have nothing but respect for all bands who write their own material, look the way they want, and can play more than 4 chords.
There are a lot of bands that 5 years ago I couldn't bring myself to listen to, that I listen to or at the very least respect now because they actually wrote their own music.

I also respect (and enjoy) anything that sounds different, unique, and out of the mainstream.

I thought the dude was cute so I bought their first album as I was a young impressionable girl. And then I listened to it. It was crap as far as I'm concerned, but I don't hold other's tastes against them.
I likes what I likes and I hates what I hates. ;)

7. Not a band, but Gwen Stefani.
I always hated her "style" everyone raved on and on about....it isn't cute, it isn't stylish, and it isn't trendy. It's just laziness. She's a pretty girl but she always looks like such a friggin' classless nutcase. The only thing worse than the way she dresses is her music. "Hollaback Girl" HAS to be the worst song I've ever heard in my life.

40. I'll agree with you there
No Doubt wasn't so bad until they decided to turn into a crappy pop band with Rock Steady. But the fact that Gwen Stefani's solo album has been very successful and made her even more famous has just given me further proof of how out-of-step I am with mainstream American tastes, as all of the singles I've heard from the album are thoroughly horrible IMHO.

And yeah, I don't get the whole "she has such a cool style" with Gwen Stefani but then again I know I have no style and am sort of proud of it, so I always figured I was just clueless on that subject.

For sure, Matthews is talented, but so what? Talent helps an artist get where he or she wants to be, but it is ultimately not an ingrediant in greatness. If talent were an ingrediant in greatness, Kenny G would have produced something great by now.

there is an app that Record Companies use to analyse songs and predict their success, by comparing said song to a database of top 50 Billboard songs for the last 30 years or so.

41. Radiohead weren't bad
when they were the one-hit wonder grunge band that recorded "Creep." I own their debut and think it's better-than-average. Exactly how they became worldwide superstars and critics' favorites with the mostly unlistenable (IMHO) stuff they've put out since then still boggles my mind. But to each his/her own...
